Swingtown

I do not consider myself a prude, far from it actually. However I'm seriously shocked at the things on tv now. From the KY lube commercials to this new show called Swingtown. I know my parents are human, but I really don't want to know what they and our friends and neighbors may have been up to in the seventies! Bleh! There were always block parties and get togethers, I don't want to know what kind of crazy games they played around the fondue pot! I don't know, I'm just seriously shocked at what these networks get away with ! Does the FCC still exist? LMAO:D

times have changed and you are not a prude, they are using shock value to get point across, some of the stuff on tv and commercials is uncalled for

I know! It's such a shame when I'm watching tv with my nephews and I don't need to worry about the programming, but I DO have to be careful with what commercial may come on next!

i have often had a problem with the commercials especially on cable, some of these commercials should have r or pg17 ratings

Hey!! Hows come no one is responding to this thread! No way Frank and I are the only two people with an opinion!! C'mon people!! Have you SEEN previews for this show? It's not like its on HBO or Skinemax! It's on ABC or some main channel like that, and Disney is ABC's parent company! LMAO How about that?! Old Walt's probably rolling over in his grave! This is like having a show of swingers residing in Mr. Rogers' Land of Makebelieve! LMAO:eek::D

Count me in on this one. DD16 and I sat down to watch Swingtown the 1st night it was on. I thought it would be a great opportunity for her to learn about the 70's. Oh my goodness! I was embarrassed seeing the 1st few minutes of that with DD16. Off went the TV.

The Sopranos would have been better for us to watch.

No, I'm not a prude either but I think some shows and commercials are pushing the limits.

I did have a thread about that creepy KY commercial and was stumped when DDs asked what it was. DD18 thought it was some new technological thing. LOL. She freaked when I told her, ever so gently, that it was a personal lubricant. She wanted to write to the TV station and let them know that it's prime time and kids do watch TV.

That show is going to be cancelled, mark my words. ;) I watched about 30 seconds and changed channels.

I agree Wiz. It will be canceled. It's pretty graphic from the little bit that I saw. Totally grossed DD16 out.

I was around when this activity was going on in the 70's. I was very naive, divorced and 21 with a 2 year old baby boy. I started going out to the clubs because it was the thing to do. It really was like the movie "Saturday Night Fever". Really a fun time, great music and dancing.

I was invited to a party and it didn't take long for me to realize what was going on and get the heck out of there. It scared the crp out of me.

I am by no means a prude either but I have never discussed such things as KY, Viagra, sex or sex toys with my best friends. I don't want to see it on TV either. It's all very private and should stay that way as far as I'm concerned.
