Acer bios password, help???????

I'm assuming my grandkids entered a password for the bios but now I have no access to the computer at all. I've tried all the passwords we normally use but none work, when the computer is turned on it goes to enter current password message. F2 and F10 neither one work neither does re-installing Vista any suggestions short of sending it to Acer and paying $100 to clear the password which is ridiculous.

cathy,

are you sure your grandkids went into BIOS to enter a password, meaning they went through F2 or F12/10 and changed the passwords there?

If that is the case, unless you have an alternative DOS software where you can run: bios320.exe

you would have to send it back to them. They'll have to install a DOS OS and then run the bios329.exe to resolve this problem.

But I am not sure if your grandkids DID go through the BIOS or they just changed the password.

if you want to save a 100 bucks but spend about 40 and can log in and reset your order of boot (F12 or F10 and set the first to boot from CD)

this might help...

you might have to go to someone's computer and download this and burn it to a CD.

sorry, passwords and bios are pain in the buttocks...

what I would do is ask the kids:

1) what did the screen look like when they changed the password
2) get a rope out and tie them up and make them swear they'd never do it again...

I'd for sure be calling gkids and asking them what they did....
Do the kids remember what they put in?

are you sure it was the Bios password?
[The best method to reset a BIOS password depends on what BIOS the computer has. Common BIOS's include AMI, Award, IBM and Phoenix. Numerous other BIOS's do exist, but these are the most common.]

do you know the bios that you puter uses?

or just the user accounts login password?
