Had my 24 week appt
I had my appt with one of the other docs in the office. He was kind of quite and he had very short answers to my questions. I ask how many months am I he told me to divide 24 by 4 and that is how many months I am ok simple math ( I stink at math) 24/4=6 cool I am six months he told me NO I am only 4 months and I would be 5 in another 4 weeks. I think someone need to go back to med school and learn his math. he was also trying to tell me that my due date is on the 12th not the 2nd. Amie is a week bigger and I know when my last peiord was.
He also would not fill out the paper work for me to donate my cord blood, he really did not give me a reason for that so i am going to give it to my reg Ob to have him fill it out. Her heart beat was 160 and she was moving around alot thanks to the king size snickers bar!!! I hope he is not the one that delivers her. |
Geez, was he drunk? Don't you get to pick the doc who delivers her? This sounds like a job for Chrappy. Chris? Get up to PA in time to do the deed and welcome the little turtle into this world!
Glad you two are doing well, Turt! |
Now I'm trying to remember how that calculation works, but it sounds like he is messed up anyway.
I think it is 40 weeks from your last ovulation, isn't it (which would be mid-month to your period cycle)? Or is it 40 weeks from your last period? Anyway, 40 weeks does not equal 9 months, if you divide by 4, it equals closer to 10 months. When I was ALREADY two weeks overdue on my second daughter, according to the ultrasound and the doc's calculation, I was not even due till the following week . . then he would STILL allow an additional 2 weeks of going overdue. He said "why don't women keep track of these things?". HA!! Why don't the men keep track of it? . . . that's the only responsibility they have in managing the pregnancy (well except impreginating us) :p I KNEW exactly when I was due . . . give or take 3 days . . . because my man was out of town all but one weekend in 8 weeks. But, do you think h e would listen to me?? He insisted I wasn't as far along, but when I was on the 3rd "overdue" week (according to my calculation), I demanded they induce me, even "if" I was only 40 weeks at that point. He begrudgingly agreed. She was born with a second layer of skin (overcooked), and had already 'done her business' in the amniotic fluid. That last three weeks blew all the muscles in my belly, and he put her at considerable risk. He finally admitted that I was right all along. Find out if they calculate 40 weeks from ovulation, or 40 weeks from your last period . . . then count that 40 weeks out on a calendar. Then back-track to how many months (Aug, Sept, Oct...) you have left, and subtract that from 9 months. That tells how many "months" along you are. Cherie |

A woman is typically pregnant for 40 weeks. Week one starts from the first day of your last menstrual period. So, in reality you are pregnant for MORE than 9 months. Ultrasounds (unless they are the 3D type) are always within 2 weeks of your due date. Meaning they can be two weeks early, or two weeks late. As far as the cord blood donation, our office waits until the beginning of the last trimester to have you fill out the forms for them. Every office and every hospital is different. I don't know what the procedure is for your hospital's L&D unit is. Try not to be too upset with the OB. He may have been up all night delivering. That is why I now take the day after call off. I was not up to snuff after being up the night before, and it was showing in my work. It sounds as if you are right on track, and that both you and baby are tolerating this pregnancy well. Good movement is always a good sign. Your baby was doing it's own stress test today.:) Good luck to you. I hope your pregnancy continues as is. There are pregnancy calendars on the net where you can put in the date of your last menses, and you will get your estimated date of gestation. *I don't have my pregnancy wheel with me right now. It's in the office. If you want, you can either google one, or message me, and I will find out for you.;) All the best to you and "fetus turtle", Chris |
