Hi Lauren, I just wanted you to know that I watched your video, and I am so impressed with your professionalism and charm. I loved it!!

You are probably one of the main reasons, that the FDA turned the corner, in allowing Tysabri to be remarketed. I am proud to know you.

I am so sorry that your thread was hijacked into a debate on Tysabri, and I apologize for seeming to take the wind out of your sales. I want Tysabri, desparately, to work for you, Lauren, and all the others who are banking on it's efficacy.

Please, please, keep us up to date with your progress and experiences, while on Tysabri.

What else was that thread about, if not a debate about Tysabri?

I hope you don't believe that there's anything wrong with open dabate over issues, opinions, treatment, etc. My expectation of NeuroTalk is that it's about issues, not individuals, and I don't think that anything we say here should ever be construed as meaning that we don't wish everyone the best with their treatments.

I will say that I value all opinions, as long as they're presented honestly and civilly. When a person makes a post and doesn't participate in the discussion which ensues, it makes me think that they may be more interested in a soapbox than a discussion board. So, I salute all who take the time to post, without regard to whether their comments support or oppose my views.

SallyC has never been one to shy away from debate :)

Hi Rex, I love debate, if it's handled intelligently, without personal attacks. The only thing about that, here, is that we are sick people and sometimes we take things personally and lash back. It shouldn't happen, but it does.

Lauren started the Tysabri thread, with a personal touch. She has been through he!! and back with her TY journey/battle. It's finally here and she's on it and came to share her exuberance with us.

I disagree with what you said above (highlighted). NeuroTalk is Not about the issues, it's about the people and their issues. First and foremost, we are here to support and validate one another. I happen to think that debate can be a way of support for many of us. It's healthy!

In this instance, it seemed, to Lauren, that we were jumping all over her, and she has not been back since...thus, this thread. I just wanted her to understand that our debating about Tysabri, was, in no way, a personal attack of her choice, and that we will be here for her whether it succeeds or fails.

There is often a very fine line between discussing the issues and a person's beliefs. Despite most poster's best efforts, messages can be taken the wrong way and an objective statement can be taken as a personal attack. It happens on this forum as well as every other MS forum that I visit because a written word can be misinterpreted and the tension escalates from there.

In Lauren's case, her exuberance for Tysabri is high, to say the least, and perhaps if someone questions her posts, she may take it as a slight. If one participates in a public forum, one has to expect that there will always be others who don't agree with you. How you handle the disagreement is the challenge and that can be difficult especially if you have very strong beliefs about something. And like you said, most participants here are suffering from the effects of MS and that makes the situation even more difficult.

Hey, you think the Tysabri thread was a train wreck? I go to a couple of dressage BBs, because dressage (dancing on horseback) was the passion and work of my former life and still is my passion, and I like to stay in touch and continue learning. Horsepeople are among the most passionate, stubborn, and vocal people on the planet. As such, our discussions on the internet sometimes involve multiple body parts littering the ether, with nothing much getting resolved in the end. And BT before it became BT, Mass General of enduring memory, was a place where heads rolled on a daily basis. In fact I took frequent breaks from that board, when rude and obnoxious communication frequently overwhelmed me. I've participated in a few train wrecks myself. This board is mild in comparison, and people are generally polite and well behaved

People are stubborn and they believe what they want to believe.They make mistakes and they want to make their own mistakes, sometimes quite vocally. The most I figure I can do is to respond with my POV, then exit as gracefully as possible. But here's one point I do get a little crazy about: there's no need to be rude and obnoxious. There's no excuse for denigrating, shaming, or otherwise putting down another poster, even if you don't agree with them. Ever. The world will survive without your POV if you can't refrain. This is written communication with a preview option, where you can review, edit, consider, and delete. Even then, the "submit" button doesn't have to be clicked.
