Arthritis gloves?

Has anyone here tried any of the gloves for arthritis? A professor where I work said he and his wife each use them and that they really help their hands.

Curious, 'cause boy I could sure use something!

TIA

I do use a pair of gloves that are designed for arthritis but I use them for a different reason. I use them because they help me unroll my fingers and keep them in a useful position (sensorimotor neuropathy means my hands curl up into a ball).

these are the sort that I have
http://www.sportstek.net/wtg.html

They are great for when I am on the computer and need to hold my fingers out so I can type.

I do also have arthritis from time to time, and the gloves bug me if my hands are inflammed and joints swollen. So I think it probably depends on what sort of arthritis you have. Mine is from lupus, which is an inflammatory condition, so my hands get hot and swollen. The gloves are really hot, and sort of compress my hands, which is ok when my joints are not swollen but when my joints are inflammed I'd rather cool them off then heat them up.

Personally I think it will depend on what type of arthritis you have - maybe they work great for osteoarthritis ?

cheers

Doody, I havent used gloves but I do find that a Salonpas patch cut in half and one half on top of each hand brings real relief all over hands and fingers, esepcially when I am on computer or packaging the glass I sell as that can really stress hands and cause flares for me

I heard about the salonpas from mrsD and use them on feet too

salicylate and menthol

I get mine at Albertson's or Walgreens @ $3.99 for 40 patches :)

Thanks Raglet and Chemar!

That looks like a nice pair of gloves.

And yes I've heard of the salon thingies, but I didn't realize they'd help for all over the hand.

The doctor told me it's osteoarthritis.

When my hands flare, it's really difficult to bend my thumbs most especially, they get all stiff and swollen. I'm getting those darned lumps on pretty much all of my fingers now. Some of them got big pretty fast. They hurt!

This is a timely post since i have been looking at these and wondering if they would help my hands. Mine are also hot and swollen so I did not know if they would hurt more than help.

Thanks for the info. I have psoriatic arthritis

help us to decide

I just heard it for thet time that there is gloves for arthritis. Maybe I would inform my brother because he was sufferring arthrities also,.But much better if we were going to consult some especialist, the other one who made a reply said, that gloves for arthritis are really hot, their might be a tendency that pain will be gotten worst.
Been searching the net almost everyday for a possible best solution *edit*. I am wondering if anyone has ever tried them? I learned that this is a face to face doctor visit but that is something new to us. Any information about the website will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I use different gloves; ones I got from the hand therapist and couldn't find any like them; so they have been sewed and sewed and turned inside out, etc. I also bought sport's gloves with the tips of fingers off. They help some...but??? Just saw this post, printed it and hubby is going to look for them tomorrow.thank you thank you thank you...hope they work!!!
Blessings,
Cathy

I realize some of these posts are old, but I just joined.

I have a pair of arthritis gloves by IMAK. They are fingertipless gloves, that have slight compression. On days like today when my hands are swollen, they help with the pain. I have RA mostly in the hands and fingers, but my thumbs esp R one have bad OA. The gloves really help!
