Antibiotics - Once we use them, are they effective again?

I was given Cipro after oral surgery, then a root canal (my jaw bone was infected so I got more powerful Anti-biotics). Once we are given a certain anti-biotic, does it work for us again?

I was reading a Popular Science article that mentioned we are approximately one mutation away from a Pandemic plague of some kind. Mosquitoes appear to be our biggest enemy in this article. It lists ten diseases that are poised to kill millions.

Is this Junk Science or Scare tactics by the drug companies? I don't know. I do know I have had so much Prednisone (because of the Calif. wild fires making our AQI soar above 300 in some places) --- my autoimmune system is weak. West Nile was mentioned. Yellow Fever and Cholera .... MRSA (one strain of it) ..... TB (one strain again).

Cipro was used against Anthrax if I remember correctly. I have been given Cipro 3 times. Three 500mg in 1999, an unknown amount while in Cardiac ICU for 3 or was it 4 days... anyway, then I got it again in April 2008. Hope I don't need it a fourth time.

Do any of you know how many times we can use these powerful anti-biotics? I understand every one of us is different, but it would be educational to know where we stand.
