John Mayer concert...oooh, yeah!

Hey all,

My 28 yr old son took me to last night's John Mayer concert outside of Chicago last night. My son is a really good blues guitarist, and I kind of introduced him to Mayer's love of blues music. So it was great to go and listen with a fellow blues lover.
John Mayer is a really gifted musician...his idol is Stevie Ray Vaughn (also my son's). We also saw Mayer at the Crossroads guitar festival last summer where Clapton, B B King, Buddy Guy, Steve Winwood, etc performed.

Boy, I'm sure blessed to have a son who isn't embarrassed to take his mom out where she can boogie and sing and yell!!:)

I'm going to sound like a dirty old lady, but as all you middle aged mamas know, it never ages above the ears...
he came out in a tank top. Bulging biceps... cool.
Then...came out for the encore without the shirt.

All I can say is...Jennifer Aniston, you are one lucky girl!!;)

I am blessed beyond knowing...how wonderful is it that I get exposed to music by my son??? He's a really great guitarist, but he has little confidence. I used to love listening to him playing upstairs...he got married 6/1, so the house is quiet. :(:(
Isn't it amazing how our kids can open up possiblities for us to open up our spirits? I am one lucky mom...
I played classical piano for about 3-4 yrs. Picked it up easily...gave it up, unfortunately. I love music and my son knows it. I'm blessed that we're able to share this love!

Since your son is out of the house, happily married and you and he share this bond of music, why not go one step further.

GO BACK TO THE PIANO!!!

It's great for the coordination. You already know how to play. Not only will you have a NEW hobby to enjoy, it will spruce up the eye hand coordination (that is unless you have a disability of sorts that preents you from doing this???)

But if you are able, go for it. Life is too short not to do what makes us feel good in our heart of hearts.

I try to sit down and do some finger exercises occasionally, but a couple of my fingers lock up at the middle joint now, and it hurts like the dickens to pull them straight. After a short time my hands ache, too. But I do love playing, and have been thinking about taking lessons in how to play popular music.

I've always been jealous of artists like Lennon who couldn't read music and used guitar chord knowledge to play piano...
Thanks for the encouragement...I might just try it again more seriously this time.:)

Fantastic taste, oh my God!!
Although I belong to other kind of music who includes guitarists as Steve Howe and Ritchie Blackmore over all, and other more generic style as showed by musicians as Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr or Bob Mould... it is great to know people with a special sensitivity for music. Lucky the man (woman) who loves music because music teaches to love :winky:
