new member - small fiber neuropathy

Hello, I am new here.

I am a 50 yr female just diagnosed after a year of horrible pain with small fiber neuropathy - a punch biopsy diagnosis. I have been on so many meds I cant count them. The only thing that has worked for me is prednisone. Dr. believes the cause of my neurpathy is either the result of taking Crestor for cholesterol or an autoimmune issue. I came off the prednisone, as it was not a drug I wanted to be on forever, and went to a new neuro who did the punch test for confirmation. He started me on Lyrica which did not seem to work. I suffered a severe relapse yesterday and again I cannot walk due to the pain. Needless to say, I am starting prednisone again. Just looking for any info that can be provided on this issue.

Thanks

Hello, I'm very happy to meet you. Welcome to the Neurotalk Forums. I am so sorry that you are suffering with your pain. It's something I'm quite familiar with, but never seem to get used to. I'm not familiar with your condition, though, so I don't know how to help. I just want you to know that I honestly sympathize, and hope very much that you find some relief very soon. Good luck.

thank you

thank you all for the warm welcome.. i have not yet figured out how to navigate this site, or the others you have so kindly referred me to.. i am also wondering if i have erythromelalgia as for example, tonite, i am cold, but feel as though i am burning from the inside out..my feet are bright red and hot to the touch.. my arms and face are following. i want to just jump in the cold pool... i feel like i am swollen from heat and about to burst from the inside.. does that make any sense to anyone?
