I'm In Shock.......But Relieved!!

On 6/4/2008 I submitted my application to SS for disability benefits. I kept a printout of the confirmation and a copy of all subsequent communication I received from them.

Well, today - in the mail - I received my Notice of Award for SSDI to begin in September 2008!

I'm in shock.......less than 2 months from the date I applied I was approved??? Is that normal?

I must be livin' right (my Dad used to say that) or my guardian angel is working overtime in my corner. :)

WHAT!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!!!!!

that's wonderful news, Kitty !!

especially because the backlog was so bad a while back...

but apparently, they've instituted a new program to clear up the backlog:

In an attempt to speed up the application process, beginning in August of 2006, the SSA implemented changes to the application process in the six-state New England region, on a trial basis. On December 1, 2007, the SSA implemented the program nationwide.

I'm not sure, Sarah, but it's worth a call to SS to find out. The toll free number listed in my paperwork is 800-772-1213.

I hope you get to feeling better. I'm sure the heat and humidity isn't helping, either....
