I am in so much pain
 

I am a new member and not sure of what to do so far. But I joined because I am needing answers of why I have so much pain. I have been to 9 doctors since 2006 and none of them know what to do with me. I have had injections -chiropractor treatments and theraphy. My primary doctor says I have A pyriformis muscle proplem but I can't beleive that totally. I had an MRI in December 2007 and they found Tarlov cysts at L3-L4,L4-L5, and L5-S1
So far no one wants to say for sure what my problem is. I have pain 24-7 and I don't know how much longer I can handle it. I started reading and researching the Tarlov cysts. I feel that I really have a problem but so far no one will say. No pain medication is helping me. So I am asking if anyone out there can help me. I am a 61 year old female and I am crasping for staws at the moment. Can someone please shed some light on this? ka4joy

I looked at a few sites about TC just now.
Did you see the dietary part , that the body might be too alkaline. You can try to make your body more acidic and see if it helps with symptoms.

I also saw TENS mentioned -have you tried that, to help block the pain while a clearer dx is being worked on.

Welcome, I am sorry about the pains you are dealing with, and the frustration of not being diagnosised. Look around the site and jump in where ever you want to ask or suggest anything. Again welcome, hopefully you will find an answer real soon

I'm very happy to meet you. And my heart goes out to you soooo much right now. To be in so much pain and not know why is more than frustrating, it's maddening! I've been to 28 doctors and seven hospitals over the past six years, and have just the other day been given a very tentative diagnosis of neuralgia. But that's so non-specific it could mean a lot of different things. If you ever want to talk, or care to share more specific information on what kinds of pain you feel, I'll be here. Hello Kay4Joy! Sorry to hear of your pain struggles, but want to welcome you to NeuroTalk. I saw that Jo55 mentioned a Tens unit. My DH uses one and swears by it. Also, his insurance paid for it. Might be something worth researching.

HI, i don't know whether I'm doing this right. I don't know much about Tarlov cysts other than they are benign and can be found in several parts of the body. What the most reasonable thing for you to do is get an appt ( a referral from your internist) to be seen by a neurosurgeon. They must be drained and it will take away your pain---but you should go to a good neurosurgeon with some documentation of what your doctor calls them. I've had much pain in my life-no fun--but DO NOT give up! Get that appt. and see what they can do to alleviate the pain these cysts cause. By the way they are NOT cancerous so don't worry about that,okay? You CAN be helped. YOu just need to find the right doctor. I've had nerve pain in the area you are in trouble and know it's hard---but you CAN be helped. Cheers! Jetty
