Guess what I get to do today...

I'm going thru my level 4 hurricane list - looks like I gotta stage a bunch of generators today. Open up some containment dikes, move portable lighting units, just stuff. If we really follow this plan - we're gonna get the sandbags ready.

This'll be interesting. My first hurricane prep as a NASA direct employee. Tropical storm Eddie popped up yesterday. We went to level 4 at 10:00 last nite.

Tom, the company I used to work for did this - transported Nextel generators all over the U.S. when hurricanes and other natural disasters struck. I can remember working round the clock (hurricanes Ivan and Katrina) when they had to be scheduled.

I was watching GMA and they were saying that it looks like Texas will be right in the line of fire if the storm continues on the path it's on now.

Good luck with your assignment! :)

Hey Tom - stay safe! Now do they take the shuttles outside? I don't know why I am thinking that when we lived in Florida they took the shuttle outside for it was safer?? but, then again I could be dreaming it.....

ok - we're probably over-reacting, but we shut the Johnson space center at noon today. We're going to keep running sims in the flight control rooms until 10 tonight. The space station control room is not shutting down and we've gone to weekend schedule for operations tomorrow.

Oh - shutting down the space center does NOT mean we stop giving tours at Space Center Houston... Those trams kept running for all those fee paying tourists...

Since I'm "essential", I didn't get to leave until my work was done (I sense contest here - guess how many sandbags I placed...).

Johnson Space Center in Houston and KSC in Florida - there's been some recent scares. I can understand some fear.

Tom

Oh yeah - I get tomorrow off. Unless the all clear is called... I got a stupid government cell phone that will tell me... Unless it's under water...

Sounds like tons of fun, but I didn't see a necessary item in there which is essential for preparation: laying in stocks of beer. :D

Hope everything's not under water tomorrow. Stay safe.
