Hoarseness, post-ACDF

Hi,
I had ACDF last December (07), so I am eight months post-op. NO problems - pain is fine, back to the gym, etc. I am having trouble lately, though, with hoarseness. I can come up with no explanation other than my surgery. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do?

Thanks,
Kelly

When my neurosurgeon went over the details of ACDF with me, he had explained that hoarseness is a possibilty. It's not supposed to be permanent, yet I don't recall what he may have stated that could help.

You might want to bring it to your surgeon's attention and ask for suggestions.

P.S.: When my doc told me about it, he also cited an example of how comparable effect affected one of my state's former governor's following some surgery he had.

Time, I believe, was what was needed for the fmr. governor's prob. to go away.

Thanks, Bobbi. I've never been the most patient person but apparently it's time to start! :)
