Movies About Disastrous Events

I was really hoping they wouldn't make any movies about 9/11. It was a horrible day for all of us, and we were inundated with updates and personal stories non-stop for months. They've already made two films and are planning a mini-series.

Some are saying these 9/11 films are politically motivated to keep us in "war mode." I tend to agree.

Why didn't anyone make a movie about the Oklahoma City Bombing?

I suspect it was for the same reason I didn't want to see a movie about what happened that day. It was a tragic personal loss for many of us. It wouldn't be entertaining to watch a re-enactment. It would be disrespectful, and downright traumatic to anyone who lost a loved one on that day. On a personal level, I certainly wouldn't want to see an actor portraying my father's death on screen for all to watch and me to live through again.

I think it's disgusting that they are making 9/11 into a mini-series!

What do you think the motive is for these 9/11 films? Why do you think no one made a movie about the Oklahoma City bombing?

don't know what the motivation is other than current news sells. OKC bombing is old news in alot of ppl's minds and the impact didn't effect people as drastically as 9/11.

I've been watching 9/11 shows on A&E or discovery this month. Stairwell something or other. I don't know how the families would react, but for those heroic people, it's nice to see them remembered.

there were movies made about the okc bombing. from what i remember they were more of tv type movies. i could check if they played in any theaters or just tv.

i don't know why these type of mvies have such draw. even the titanic. i still haven't seen it. there is enough documantary coverage to find out what happened, but to dramatize such events?

i think the real people need to be remembered, not the actors who portrayed them. ( jmho ;) )

There have already been films about 9/11 (World Trade Center 2006 by Oliver Stone and Terror in the Heartland on the History Channel about the Ok. city bombing).

The motive is the usual; money. The movies in theaters and on t.v. are based on public interest in various subjects. It the public is interested the movies do well and so do the t.v. shows.

i hope no one takes this the wrong way.. but i am so sick of hearing about 9/11 on TV,movies,news,debates.. id just rather put it in the past.. how can the healing for anyone start if it is always tossed in peoples face constantly.. maybe i am a little off my rocker but isn't going on and on about it giving the terrorists just what they wanted? now granted i was not directly affected by what happened so it is much easer for me to say that then for the poor souls that lost someone. and i feel bad for them i really do.. i say forget what happened but remember and honor the dead as they were.. not how they died. hope that made sense..
