Now I've heard EVERYTHING!!

I was sitting at my usual breakfast table when a song began to play on the radio. I LOVE to download stuff to my ipod, but I never know the names of these songs, so I always ask the young people around me "What's the name of the song and who is singing it'?

They usually say "Justin Timberlake or someone famous, and they know the name of the song.

WELL, WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR THIS.

I'm sitting at my table, and the guy who works there, John, is 18 years old. I said: "John who is singing this, I want to download it to my Ipod when I get home".

His reply????

"WAIT, I HAVE TO ASK MY PHONE".

I just looked at him, I thought I was in a Star Trek movie.

I said "you have to do what???"

And he goes "my phone will tell me".

I said: 'Your phone will do WHAT??"

He burst out laughing and said "oh you don't know that phones tell you stuff".

I said "OH MY GOD, I'M OLD AS THE HILLS".

He burst out laughing and said "watch this!!!"

He walks around the room, aims the phone at the air (as if to pick up a signal or something).

He looks at me and says: "now look at my phone".

The phone indicated it was LISTENING.

I said: "what the hel* is going on?" I was getting spooked.

The phone then indicated the artist, the name of the song, and asked him if he wanted to download the song, or save it as a ringtone.

I HAVE NOW JOINED THE FUTURE.

I must get a job, and get me one of these phone thingees!!!

God I love Technology!!!

LOL Melody! My cell phone is so old... new in 2004... it doesn't do any of the new fangled things they have out now. Every time I pass by a phone kiosk in the malls or Costco, they want me to update to a new phone and plan . No thanks, I don't even use the 300 minutes a month I pay for now:o.

That's way cool!!! Gotta find one of those phones... :D

So... you didn't say... WHAT WAS THE SONG and ARTIST????
(had to ask... I'm a music junkie...)

:D

What was the name of the song and the artist?

Hey, I'm almost 61, do you think I remembered it? As soon as I walked out of the store, it went out of my mind.

Tomorrow I'll ask John again. He's 18 years old. HE REMEMBERS STUFF!!!

lol

OMG Mel........You sound like me..........add to the fact that I am old and seem outta the loop....the fact that I live in the woods and dont get out much lol....

When I started this new job.....it took me like a week to stop picking up the reciever on my desk phone to answer it when the fax machine rang........its a totally different phone line on a machine next to my desk and the rings are totally different....but did I figure that out right off? NO!!!!! kept on trying to answer it time and time again.....

the other girls in the office would just laugh.....(it happened about 20 times a day lol for a week) They got plenty of giggles at my expense............oh well I fixed that lil problem now........I moved to a different room as the fax machine lol....let someone else worry bout that ringer.....I just gotta figure out the answering machine now and how to use Quick Books...and I will have it made in the shade.............

Thanks for the tech chuckle this morning....I needed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(and dont feel so outta the loop) were just in our "own" loop of sorts!!!!!!!!!!

Well, this morning, I went back for breakfast. I said to John. "John, do you remember the name of that song I wanted yesterday".

He said: "hold on, I'll ask my phone again (exactly what he said).

I said "but it's not playing on the radio now". He said "Yeah, but my phone stores the information and I'll just pull it up".

I said 'why of course it does, why didn't I realize that'.

We all burst out laughing.

Then ANOTHER song came on and of course I never heard of this one either.

I just yelled out 'JOHN".

He picked up his phone, held it up to the air (you should have seen the faces on the customers, who looked at me) and I just said 'don't worry, his phone is telling him what's playing on the radio".

Everybody said 'GET OUTTA HERE". It was hysterical.

What was the song today? The Way I Are by Timbaland featuring Keri Hilson ( I have never heard of any of these people)

The one from yesterday?

RUN THE SHOW by Kat Deluna, featuring BUSTA RHYMES

Oh, I asked him to write down the software (It's free from Verizon).
It's called Vcast Song ID for Verizon.

How cool is this??

Oh, and John said that people don't have to break up with people anymore. There is a service (that you pay for), that will write a dear john letter for you and mail it to the person, so the person thinks it came from you.

Can you imagine?? You don't have to break up with people personally any more, and you can have your phones LISTEN to songs and tell you the name and artist.

I am NOW TRULY LIVING IN A STAR TREK UNIVERSE!!!

lol

FlyFishin Momma 08-14-2008 07:06 AM

ROFLMAO....................

Thanks CONSUMER REPORTER.............

We can "ALL" TRULY LIVE IN A STAR TREK UNIVERSE now.....lol

That is so funny............just imagine what it will be like 10 years from now..............I dont think I can keep up lol.........

FFM... you sound like me with that story of the fax machine. :D

Our new printer started ringing one day... I'm sitting here looking at the stupid thing trying to figure out what it's doing. Someone used the fax portion and didn't turn the feature back off...so when the phone rings the printer rings!

That's funny about the fax machine. I have one, but no ink cartridge. My phone and answering machine are all hooked up via the fax machine. Haven't received a fax in 10 years YET I STILL HAVE A FAX MACHINE. Sometimes I send faxes, so it's still good for something.

This morning Alan and I went out for breakfast to Lucky 8's. John was there.

I said "John, do your thing". So he takes the phone and holds it up in the air. He showed it to Alan (who was IMPRESSED).

Then I asked John "do you go on the internet with this phone??" and he says "Oh no, I use my other phone". And he whips out yet another phone.

Alan says 'How many phones do you have??" and he says 'well right now I have only two but I asked my mother to buy me a Blackberry".

We laughed all morning.

Then he told us he used to be a child actor and he was in the movie A PRICE ABOVE RUBIES with Renee Zellwigger. He said "I was a little kid, and me and my brother played the two little kids in that movie".

Well, that's one of my favorite movies. I remember it well. I'm going to go and try to find it and watch it to find him when he was 6 or 7.

Then he says "I'm a twin by the way".

I said: "where is your brother, what does he do?" and he said: 'he works here too".

Then I said 'Oh my god, do you mean when I think I'm talking to you, I'm talking to your twin". He laughed and said "no, you come in at 8 a.m. and he works after 3 p.m."

I cannot wait to go there and see a duplicate version of John.

He is our favorite breakfast person right now.

He's 18, and adorable.

I love it when the young ones take the time to talk to you and show you stuff.

He is now my new computer go to person. And if I ever want my phone to "listen", I'll know who to ask.

lol
