Fighting with Fatigue (and I'm loosing).

I haven't been sleeping but 3-5 hours most nights lately (almost a month now) and fighting bad fatigue. I don't know what to do to help keep me going (napping is not doable) anyway caffeine makes me sleepy, B12 tablets, ginseng aren't working and I don't know what else to try. :hissyfit: Anybody have any ides, Other than sleeping?

I feel like I'm having a fibro flair, as of a few days ago (hurting all over, achy, etc, I don't feel sick) so that's making the fatigue even worst now.

BTW, Mods please :smileypray: don't move this to the fibro board, this isn't just a fibro thing. :o

Julie
have you been tested for Candida albicans? You can also do a simple spit test that gives indication of whether you have infection with it http://www.adhdrelief.com/CandidaTest.html

Many people with fibro, GIT probs etc have it and get much better when it is cleared. Also evidence that people with MCS may have rampant candida infection

you may want to check on that

btw a good place for these kinds of health questions is usually the General Health forum
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum2.html

I am moving this post there cos Social Forum really is meant to be a place where everyone can take a break from illness related stuff:grouphug:

A really good book on this is The Yeast Syndrome by Morton Walker and John Trowbridge

there really is growing evidence of candida causing a lot of hard to dx illness, especially when fatigue etc involved

howdy Julie hope you are feeling better today,

Chem I think deb looked at that one because she is always having them because of antibiotics, its a weird catch 22 kills the bad ones and the good ones, if not i will suggest it to her when she goes to library nest time, thanks

Julie as I said i hope you are feeling better, I know this is silly to even type, but try to take it easy

Hi Frank

yes, antibiotics are a major cause of candida overgrowth because they do kill off the good and the bad microbes in our bodies

when on antibiotics it is a good idea to also take probiotics either 3 hr before or 3 hr after the antibiotic

we like natural probiotics like Kefir and active culture yoghurt

weegot5kiz 08-16-2008 03:24 PM

yes a doc at hospital said something about kefir I asked him what about yogurt, he said yes to this also I have never tried Kefir, but have seen some pretty intersting things about it and deb and I keep forgetting to look for it at stores. I wrote down the title but i came back to fix the augmar to say chemaug :Bang-Head: I'll take cogfog for two hundred

"Other than sleeping"? Sleeping is what you need to do, and get under control! Are you taking any medications to help you sleep? Our bodies need sleep, and if this has to be induced, then so be it! I've had major issues with sleep ever since I was stalked 4 years ago. It has been a constant battle. There are things like ambien and lunesta, which can help you to re-establish a sleep schedule. And then, for chronic, long term problems there are meds like trazadone and seroquel. I take seroquel every night and I love it. When you look it up, it will tell you that it's an antipsychotic (eek!), which it is at very high doses. For sleep issues, you take about 1/10 of the dose and it acts as a sedative. It also helps with nightmares. Trazadone is an antidepressant that acts similarly. The great thing about these two is that they aren't addictive and don't function like normal sleeping pills. Seroquel has really helped me a lot. I stopped sleeping for a month at the height of being stalked and ended up checking myself into a behavioral health hospital because it took such a toll on me.

One other thing that I would recommend is meditation and yoga. These two things can really help you to relax and decompress as well as focus. Do you know why you aren't sleeping? Is there a reason? Pain, stress, something on your mind? Meditation can help you to get close to that reason in order to overcome it. And yoga can relax you and improve blood flow which can energize you throughout the day. Holler if you have questions!
