need help understanding

i have multipule health issues. my big concern right now is the hypoglycmia/diabetes i know they are not the same.
in march of 07 i was dx with hypoglycmia and in june of 08 i went to a new dr and there office said i was diabetic and i had till sept to loss weight and get control. they would run the tests again and if i did xyz right i would be able to stay diet control.. i so don't get it.. how can i have low sugar then have high sugar.. when my sugar allways is good when i test it even when i feel funny/bad. i understand that they ran the tests (not sure what) and it said i had xyz. i understand that if i look this up it says i have diabeties. but everytimg i check my sugar it is fine.. so i am thinkking maybe one of my meds is messing with it?? what do you think.. any ideas.. how can the 6 hr gluclose test be wrong.. not to mention i had gestational diabetes with all 3 of my kids. everyone but my mom and kids have diabetes so it runs in my family. i am not going to waste you time with listing my symptoms. but the only thing i don't have is blurry vison unless i put on my glasses.. please let me know thank you

Hi.

Need some more information.

How overweight are you? What exactly are your fasting numbers when you get up in the morning? This is important. It gives us the information so we can pass on whatever we have learned to you.

I gather you are NOT on any diabetic meds right now, right?

What meds are you on.

Hypoglycemia means you had low blood sugar. Diabetes, well, that means a whole bunch of stuff. Your pancreas is not working correctly.

You might have highs. You might have lows.

You did the 6 hour test right? Do you have the numbers??

And how is your diet?

This is important.

And the doctor was correct. If you are overweight, you need to lose the weight and eat low-carb and some protein with each meal. Cut out any refined sugars.

See how this affects the blood sugar readings.

And always carry some of those glucose tablets in your purse. When low blood sugar hits, it can knock you off of your feet.

Sometimes all it takes is 6 jellybeans and you're right as rain.

Have you ever had any episodes of light headedness, or weak at the knees.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but diabetes IS serious stuff.

Let us know when you have a moment, okay?

Others will hope on board eventually and help you out further.

Hey Star,

My endocrinologist told me that hypoglycemia can be a precursor to diabetes. Its part of the cycle of impaored glucose and insulin resistance.

Do you have your tests results? Do you feel comfortable posting them?

What are the symptoms you are feeling?

Diabetes runs in my my family as well. Right now I am in the insulsin resistance stage and take a low dose of medication for it and have changed my diet but need to do even more.

Maybe we can help more with some diet discussions. Melody is right, its a life style change.

Hi.

You have multiple medical stuff going on. The overnight weight gain of 20 pounds means you are retaining water. Did your doctor ever give you lasix?? or talk to you about this.

Since you know how to use a computer, you are COMPUTER LITERATE.

This mean, you can go to google, or yahoo, and type in any questions you have and you will find out ALL ABOUT HYPOGLYCEMIA, AND DIABETES.

You are on hormones?

You have a lot on your plate. I've read your other posts.

I do hope you get help.

Melody
