Going on Vacation to ----- Wales!!!

I guess it's time to let the cat out of the bag, all the way! I've alluded to it in a couple of posts recently but I've just not had the time to post it yet.

Yep, been saving my pennies, or pounds, so to speak, for this big trip to Wales for almost a year now and was looking at the calendar and it's less than a month away! Am I ready?? Nope. Getting there.

There are 3 of us going, counting me. My best friend, my sister and myself.

We depart Atlanta on Sept 9th, fly into Manchester England, where we pick up our rental car, then we are driving (yes DRIVING, Shelley) to Llandovery, South Wales, and stay til the 15th. Then my friend is departing and my sister and I are going to London. Then she and I return home on the 17th.

So, what are we doing in Llandovery, you ask? Well, part of the trip is to watch the World Sheep Dog Trials. Yep, that's what I said. They are being held there and that's the reason for the trip, part of the reason.

We are also going to do some sight seeing. There's lots to do, like Cardiff, some cool castles, some cool gardens, beer, pubs, maybe try to ferry over to Ireland for a day (not sure about that one yet), Liverpool isn't out of the question (Beatles fans?). Hey Shelley lots of curvey roads...

As for London, my sister has two grandkids that live there with their mother, so that's the reason for the extra two days there. I've never met them and am looking forward to that. I've never been to England, nor Wales, only Ireland, so this will be another check in the box for me! My sister has been to London but not since 1980 and my friend has never been at all. (oh boy! a guinea pig!)

We're staying in a B&B, so that's a good thing. Our Hostess sounds wonderful. And we've got a great rental car. Now if we can afford "petrol" we'll do ok!

Now it's time to start packing and looking over all the details to make sure I have all the things I need. Already have an international cell phone (mom doesn't know sis and I are both going to be out of the country at the same time and she's still pretty sick), got my Apple Travel Kit so I will have my laptop (Twiffy knows I don't go anywhere without my laptop - gotta download pictures!), passport, camera, meds ordered.

Clothes...that's the tough one...not sure about the weather. Someone said just pack for WET and you'll be safe!! LOL!!!

Anyone been to Wales? I am soooo looking forward to this vacation...is it September yet??

One more thing, spending the night with Jazzgirl the night before we leave! That will be fun!!

Never been there but wanted to wish you a grand visit! Curtsy to the queen for me OK? My brother has been to Liverpool and took a pic on the same stage the Beatles first appeared on.

Cheryl

That sounds so exciting and such a fun adventure. World sheep dog trials, what a cool sight to watch.

I can't wait to see/hear about it. Do you have a checklist started so that nothing will be forgotten?

You must be jumping out of your skin. If it were me, I don't know how I'd contain the joy. Planning for a year and to have it so close. WOW!

Enjoy Enjoy!
's

Having driven in Ireland for 10 days with my MIL as a navigator, yep, it's still a U-turn, but the most fun are the round a bouts!! Gotta love those! Actually I learned to drive on the wrong side of the road in Italy, if that gives you a hint!! LOL! And then in Hong Kong....that was just plain scary...:eek::eek:

Round-a-bouts are abundant in Boston so I am accustomed to them. We do even a few of them cropping up here only they are calling them "traffic calmers!" Traffic confusers!!

Not a problem, Shell, I will sharing the driving with "whats-her-name" and she's about as bad as I am! Maybe worse, she's never driven on the wrong side of the road! Maybe we'll take videos!!

This trip sounds like such fun, Cheryl!! I hope you'll take plenty of pics and share them with us. This is the only way I get to travel and see the world....through my cyber friends!

On top of not being able to post pictures, now I am having problems posting. The site keeps timing out on me!!

So here goes again!

I am having problems posting pictures. I have a couple of albums in my profile. The last one I created, Koi Ponds, is text only. You have to click on the text in order to see the pictures. Not sure what the problem is but I am not the only one with this issue as noted in the thread in the Community Feedback Forum.

I also tried to upload an attachment for a post this morning and kept getting the invalid file error message and finally just gave up.

I AM looking forward to this trip! Very excited!!! (no smilies today either...hmmm....)
