Kitty 08-16-2008 03:27 PM

Prayers for our Florida members being said.

Chemar and Joelle are the only two I know of (I think). If I missed someone that I should have known about I'm sorry!

Ya'll please stay safe.....:smileypray:

weegot5kiz 08-16-2008 08:22 PM

hopefully it will die down or go out to sea, I hope you all are safe and careful, Kelly you too, you are not that far away. and georgia looks to be in its project landfall path.

Kitty 08-17-2008 10:51 AM

jmiller is in Spring Hill, FL. Not sure where that is but from the looks of the weather channel map the entire state of FL will get some impact from this storm.

He's on vacation up north right now....hopefully he'll miss the storm or get back in time to batten down the hatches.

What am I thinkin'.........??? He's got plenty of duct tape! He'll be fine!! :D

Chemar 08-17-2008 12:11 PM

BMW  is NE of me and I am NW of Orlando.

currently the models have it making landfall somewhere along the west coast of Florida late monday-early tuesday and it depends on a bunch of things as to the track it will take then

This is always so hard when praying about these storms...as praying it will veer west away from us means it will head for panhandle or gulf coast.....:(

after the damage we had here in 2004 I really am very scared of these storms.:icon_eek:

really a test of one's ability to trust the Lord, nomatter what:o

Burntmarshmallow 08-17-2008 12:33 PM

Chemar dont be scared Fay ... it is going to be a small hurricane if that . be prepared dont be scared , I just brought a elderly neighbor to store for supplies. Right now it seems like many are pretty laid back on this one .well at least around my area. but we will get the bad side of it as it "shakes floridas hand " . and I think id rather it come here then the gulf where it could affect the oil rigs and stuff like that.and my neighbors...and N.T. members out that way. I am right on the east coast florida...

wonder how Southie is she is a florida memeber on west side I believe and a few others I know of I p.m. already to keep in touch ;)
lets all Tie down our floats help our neighbors or those who need help and lets all make it threw this storm safe and sound. :grouphug:
PEACE

I hope that the storm is downgraded and turns out to be nothing damaging.

who moi 08-19-2008 05:08 AM

hope you all are staying safe and "dry"

:grouphug:

Chemar 08-19-2008 09:31 AM

lol Moi no such word as "dry" on the Florida peninsula today :D

however good news is Fay came ashore at Cape Romano, just south of Marco Island, as a tropical storm just below cat 1 hurricane strength and now has max sustained winds of 60mph with higher gusts. So at least she didnt strengthen before making landfall

Kitty 08-19-2008 10:20 AM

I talked to Joelle last night and they are hanging in there. They're in Coral springs. I could hear the rain pouring as we were talking (she was out on her porch). It sounded heavy!! She said she thought they'd be fine but I told her to call me if anything changed.

Please, ya'll all stay safe. Praying for everyone in the path of Fay.

 they are now saying that the Brevard/Cape Canaveral coast can expect high winds and heavy rain thru Thursday morning...major beach erosion:( Storm is stalling but not weakening and so flooding is happening too

Fay expected slowly make its way out into the atlantic tomorrow, strengthen to cat 1 hurricane and turn back toward Florida/Georgia

latest update on the homes damaged by the Barefoot Bay tornado is at 51 and other storm related damage reports beginning to come in

my area is getting strong wind and horizontal rain now. swirling low clouds everywhere.
It is always scariest when these things continue in the dark...hearing them but not able to see is so eerie.:o

continued prayers are valued ...thanks:grouphug:

Chemar 08-20-2008 08:18 AM

well it looks like Florida is going to have a double whammy from Fay as they are now predicting she will churn around the east coast a bit and then turn back in over our northern counties:(

 BMW seems she will sit over your area

5 a.m. Tropical Storm Advisory

The center of Fay is near Cape Canaveral.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect from north of Jupiter Inlet northward to Altamaha Sound, Ga.

A Hurricane Watch remains in effect from north of Flagler Beach to Altamaha Sound.

A tropical storm watch remains in effect from north of Altamaha Sound to the Savannah River.

At 8 a.m. EDT, the center of Tropical Storm Fay was located near latitude 28.5 north, longitude 80.6 west, or very near Cape Canaveral.

Fay is moving toward the north near 5 mph, and this motion is expected to continue today. A gradual turn toward the northwest is forecast during the next 12 to 24 hours, and Fay is likely to remain near or over the east-central and northeastern Florida coast through Thursday.

Data from a reconnaissance plane and surface observations indicate that the maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph, with higher gusts. These winds are occurring mostly over water well to the east of the center. Some gradual restrengthening is possible during the next 24 hours before Fay moves back inland over northeastern Florida on Thursday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles from the center.

Latest minimum central pressure reported by an Air Force reconnaissance aircraft was 994 mb, or 29.35 inches.

Storm tides of 1 to 3 feet above normal are possible along the East Coast of Florida to the north of the center of Fay.

Chemar 08-20-2008 01:41 PM

there is serious flooding happening in Brevard County (that is where Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral/Kennedy Space Center is)

Fay has stalled over them and forecasters are saying 30+ inches:eek: of rain with some areas already 13 inches deep :(

as it now looks like Fay will sit there for a while and then turn slightly and come back in again the situation has now become very very serious

http://cfnews13.com/Weather/Hurrican...ast_coast.html

Burntmarshmallow 08-20-2008 01:57 PM

Yupper Looks like Fay may turn around and come back near my neck of the beach then cross florida. it is just hanging right off shore moving so slow I cant even tell its moving on radar only rotating. it has me spent and tired from pain flaring and pressure. but still safe as I hope and pray all our Florida members are. I need a nap before I collapse on my key pad here.

Forecasters are saying at least another day of this :eek:
