Symptoms of unruptured brain aneurysm
 

I have a cerebral aneurysm and doctors are watching and waiting as it is in a dangerous area for coiling procedure. What I want to know is if any other individuals with brain aneurysms have experienced thinking problems, like brain is not processing up to par...

Welcome to NeuroTalk - Sorry to hear you have an aneurysm. To answer your question - I also have an aneurysm that is being watched and do have challenges with my brain operating optimally. Some of my symptoms are fatigued pretty easily, memory loss, unable to find words or even sometimes spell correctly. Brain hurts after exerting myself in conversation with others and my threshhold for using tact with people can decrease when my brain is tired. I had for years had issues with comprehension and found ways around it. I knew something wasn't functioning right just never occurred to me it was an aneurysm.

Mine's just been picked up, and I'm waiting to see the specialist to discuss treatment options. I found a list of possible symptoms on the .brainaneurysm.com website.
I've listed them below:-

To be honest I've had most of these for years due to fibromyalgia & mental health conditions/medications.
No. 1 is comparatively new (circa last Summer) and I have been a lot more tired & confused in the last few months as well as being more inclined to fall over and having increasing difficulty in concentrating.
Horrible, isn't it? Never mind, keep smiling & just try to accept a slower pace of life for thr time being.:hug:

Unruptured brain aneurysm and thinking
 

I have three aneurysms, all on the right side. I have had one coiled, it was a 12.9. The other is 4.5 and a small one at 2.2. They are watching the 4.5 one. I am 62, yes, I do have trouble some times with thinking, the word is there but I can't get it out. I don't think it is related so much to the aneurysm, but to the worry. Age may have some role in this. But, where is your aneurysm located? What size? Our brains have certain parts that control certain activities, if the aneurysm is large enough to press on something else, possibly this may have an effect also. I am not in the medical field, just venturing a guess. I worry, I don't want the second one to rupture, so this sometimes throws off my thinking.

:)I too have been diagnosed with a brain aneursym. Mine is along the cartoid artery on the base of my brain. It was 9mm in Jan. As of Aug. it was 5-6. Not very big, but surgery would be too dangerous. Not to mention I have a 16 yr. old daughter and a 7 yr. old. No one to raise them if I died or had a stroke in surgery. I ask God to keep me here a while longer. For 3-4 years I have been experiencing memory loss, headaches, numbness in face/limbs and ear pain. Ocassionally my balance is off, which is very embarrassing. Sometimes I feel like I'm walking sideways and can't control it. It scares me. I was diagnosed in Jan. of 2008 at 34 yrs. old. My thinking is also disrupted often. I get confused alot, loose my car everywhere I go (lol). Doctors say this stuff is not related to the aneurysm, I disagree.

Yes I have had two Annie's one coiled and one clipped in 2004 both 4 mm and both to the point of rupture. I had numbing (most right side) but also both legs. I also had slur that happened once in a while that lasted anywhere from a day to two weeks,very tired always,could not remember,and felt like I had the flu for 8 months. I was working as a union painter when I felt like my nerves were on top of my skin...hot felt cold,cold felt hot on my right side and my neck hurt. That was in July 2004 so I saw my doctor who told me I may have MS (because both legs were heavy at times,and numb) anyway it turns out I had two Annie's.One was deep between the two hemispheres where they say only 5% of people get them and very hard to coil...long story short they coiled it.:winky: The one they clipped was in a Y shaped artery right in the center,so they could not coil because it would stop blood flow. A month after seeing the doctors for my last "you're fine to go" I had a stroke,when they say take things slow,rest and work back slowly they mean it. Me I was running up and down 4 flights of stairs at my son's apt. and for three day's feeling dizzy,I had no idea I was spiking my BP. Took me three years to walk and talk OK,still when I get tired I slur,my right side acts up,and I still have short term memory. So don't be like me..when they say rest,Rest!!!
Me and about 8 others from the BT site email each other everyday,we all go through the same things,but I know you'll do fine. Think positive they can fix you and if they can't,or feel unsure... get a second opinion. I live in Minn.and had two of the best Dr.Eric S. Nussbaum, Neurosurgery, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Dr. Madison,Madison did the coil.

one of the major problems with unruptured aneurysms is that they tend not to have any symptoms, so people don't know they are there and don't seek treatment. I have no symptoms from my aneurysm and it was found accidently (I have other unrelated neurological problems so have regular brain scans).

By the time that it becomes symptomatic I would have thought that it would be time to have it treated. My sister never did have any symptoms right up until the morning it ruptured. She has a stroke like event 30 minutes before the rupture which she did not survive.

My aneurysm is small (6cm) and is being monitored and has not grown any since it was discovered some time ago.
