If it isn't one thing, it's another

Like I need one more thing to do before I leave on this trip next week. :(

I upgraded my cell phone so I could have international calling. It arrived a few days ago and I finally had time on Saturday to activate the phone and get it set up.

Transferred all my contacts, get my calendar moved etc.

One big problem.

The phone vibrates, it talks, the alarm works, it makes all sorts of cute little noises, but the damn thing won't ring when a call comes in! WHUH?

That's right. IT WON'T RING. Not any type of noise. It blinks at me, it will vibrate, when I miss a call, it beeps at me. If someone leaves a voice mail, it beeps at me. If I get a text message, it makes that cute little noise. But the damn thing WON'T RING.

And if I hook up my headset, it won't even vibrate. So I have no idea if a call is coming in unless I am looking at the damn phone. This is my business phone. Unacceptable.

Yep, I love this new gadget. My friends all call me iPod stupid cuz it took me months to figure out my iPod. Everytime I would sync it, it would be blank! LMOA...figured that one out. Finally.

So, on my way home today, I stop by Verizon and hand the phone to the tech guy. He says how may I help you. I said, make it ring. WHUH? Make it ring. So he tests the call sounds, they all work. Yeah, they do. Make it ring. He calls the phone. Silence. He gets one of the other techs to look at it. They both look at the phone. They can't make it ring. They ask me what I did. WHAT *I* did? It hasn't rung since I activated it on Saturday. You make it ring. This thing has more bells and whistles than a dixie clipper, you make it ring. It talks, it vibrates, the alarms work, but it won't ring. Fix it.

They can't. Verizon is overnight shipping me a new phone. Arrives tomorrow. :D Maybe I will just stick with my old phone. It rings.

:ROTFLMAO::ROTFLMAO::ROTFLMAO:

I know, not really funny. Your explanation cracked me up though!

What a drag. I thought these type of problems only happened to my daughter.

Good luck.

When I told the guy to make it ring, he thought I was kidding. I was not amused. Here's this 20 yr old techno geek looking at 55 yr old female and I am sure he was thinking she has no clue how to make that phone work...he soon learned I knew more about that phone that he did. I was telling him how to find features on it. And I'd only had it since Saturday.

I'd lost my sense of humor earlier in the day...a very busy day. And I really didn't have time to spend trying to get that damn phone to ring.

I hope the next one works. If not...oh well.

Verizon needs to have more than 2 choices for international calls.

Oooohhhh, I'd be ticked if they said that to me!!! Why because you're a woman? Grrrrr.

I am even less amused when they happen to my daughter, just about every month. Between her Blackberry, IPOD, IPOD player, connectors, stereo, portable DVD player, laptop, camera, not to mention her house keys . . . she is either misunderstanding, losing, dropping, getting wet, getting stolen, or needing warranty work on something. It's ridiculous!!

My cell phone is a "pay-as-you-go" and I think I bought it outright for about $100, four yrs ago. I don't need it for business purposes though . . . so if someone can't get me (i.e. it's turned off, run out of time, etc.), too bad.

Technology sucks!! I don't even pick up my voicemail for 2 or 3 weeks. :p

I am very very tired. It was not a good day.

:p

I did not, however, say it to the Verizon idiots.
