Congratulations!!:D

I'm STILL fighting for disability after 5 1/2 YEARS :( . I just called my attorneys office last week and they said its still in the appeals procces in the supreme court I THINK.. I've been thru the two court hearing denials. We are appealing the second judges denial. I've gotten even worse medically since then.

Have a great cruise. :D

IF/when I win.. I NEED the money to get me a handicap equipped van for my powerchair!!!

This is just what the SS folks like to read. That we can't work but we can take a cruise. You may want to delete this, because you never know who is reading these forums. They can take it away a lot faster than they give it out.

Just a word of caution.

Yes, perserverance pays off. It is a shame that the system, when it works, takes too long! I have wondered sometimes if the aspect that you receive it retroactively adds to some worker's nonchalance?

Cruises are not easy, imo, so unless you are accustomed to them, you might wish to reconsider? But glad to hear you've received the benefits! JD

SSD and Cruise

I don't care if SSD knows I'm going on a cruise. Before I came disabled I went on 5 cruises.

I intend to take my rollator which is a walker with 4 wheels, hand brakes and a seat. As far as excursions, we are taking a bus at St. Thomas and St. Marteen for sightseeing.

I know my limitations and they stop me from going on a cataraman for a excursion and snorkling...just can't do or going on a sail boat because I can't get into them.

I'm not deleting this post. After being injured from a wreck in 3/05, I deserve this cruise. I've had 2 cervical fusions and a lumbar fusion and am facing another cervical and lumbar fusion.

Hugs To Ya!

Claudia,

I hope you know, Linda wasn't being critical of you; it's like so many have scavengers trolling the Net looking for morsels to bash against someone. I thought as she did and ... she was just more brave and open and risked sharing so that you would not be adversely affected. Good for her! and Super for you!

I've not encountered as you and Linda have, and I'm just gettin' sorta in the groove of traveling. It was most difficult my first trek this Summer (by train) and I'm about a 1.5 weeks away from my last for this season.

I gotta say: I am going to miss this season when it's over. It's the first I've travelled "disabled" and the most I've travelled. But... geeze, it's been a blast!

So, go, have a fantastic time. And, also know, what's shared here has been in caring :). That's it!

:D

Ohhhh, bring back photos to share with us!

Ssd

Bobbi and Linda

I wasn't upset with Linda's post. I'm not that type of person who takes comments that mean well to me as criticism. And yes, Linda, you are probably right that SSD people read these posts. "I mebbe disabled but I'm not dead":D

I've got a male friend who has COPD and heart problems who is on disability and rides a motorcycle with a handicapped license plate. He is the one that gave me the above quote.

I will be using a wheelchair at the airports and we are booked for bus tours at St. Thomas and St. Marteen. My Neurosurgeon is also giving me an Epidural Steriod Injection at C7-T1 (cervical) and L3-L4 (lumbar) on the 10/20
hoping to ease some of my nerve pain and mebbe put me in a 'comfort zone' for the cruise. He said he doesn't normally give one in the cervical and lumbar area at the same time, but he is hoping it will not only help me for the cruise but bide me some time before doing fusions there.

Nope, not me to get into tiffs LOL! Enuff of them already on this message board.

Hugs To Ya!
Claudia:)
