Cytoscopy

Well, I saw the urologist at a follow up appt (after having the urodynamics done a couple of weeks ago.) He said it appears that while I'm emptying like I'm supposed to, I have a bit of an overactive bladder. He does want to do a cytoscopy (oh joy!), so the person who schedules those procedures will be calling me in the next week or so.

He started explaining what goes on, saying "it's not too bad", but then I guess he saw the look of "are you crazy?" on my face b/c he stopped and asked me how I did w/the urodynamics test. After I told him how horrible it was, he--very easy going--said we'd just make sure I didn't know anything was going on with this latest test. We're doing it outpatient, and I'll be in la-la land.

So, that's where we are right now.

Good luck with your test.

Seriously. Anything *scopy is not pleasant :(

la-la land is a good place to be when people in masks are poking and prodding your bod.

Good luck to you!

They're going to put you out for your cystoscopy??

All they gave me for mine was some numbing gel. (some sort of lidocaine, I think)

The numbing gel really didnt help all that much either. (never want to do that again!)

I have had several cystoscope tests. They aren't that bad. I have to say that the description was worse than the actual procedure. "You're gonna run what up my urethra?"

Ultimately, it was minor discomfort. Gives the urologist a "bird's eye view" of what's going on.
