misheard lyrics

Have you ever 'misheard' some lyrics? Like....'there's a bathroom on the right' or 'scuse me while I kiss this guy'? That last one by Jimi Hendrix even gives this site it's name ~~ http://kissthisguy.com/ It's funny

When my daughter was little, she wanted me to play "that song about the seal." When I was clueless, she went on impatiently, "You know, Mommy! You picked a fine time to leave me, you seal!"

I had to check what song that came from. Tom Petty, Born a Rebel.

We have a CD in the car of various oldies and other kid friendly songs. DS is totally into "Istanbul Was Constantinople". He kept asking me about the monster in the song, and I was completely baffled since there is no such thing. Finally we listened together so he could show me what he was talking about. "Still a Turkish delight on a MOONLIT NIGHT" somehow turned into some kind of monster, to his ears.

This is the same kid who used to sing, "Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, Yesternight a yesternight a one horse open sleigh."

one night da wife and I were listening to the eagles...and of course, everyone "KNOWS" the lyrics to "Hotel California" right?

OK, so...

it got to the part where the lyrics are: Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air

da wife sang, loudly: One Smell of Policeman...rising up through the air...

OK, I was cracking up...

but when we got to: What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

I sang out loud..."what a nice surprise...when you're outta ice..."

she cracked up...

now, we can't get through hotel california without cracking up...
