Waking up?

I tend to be a heavy sleeper - like real heavy. Suddenly - the last month or so - I keep waking all night. Not pain, no potty breaks, no anxiety or stress.

Just every half hour or so I wake up. I fall right back to sleep but it still is not good having all the disruptions in the sleep patterns.

I thought maybe there was noise, so I tried leaving the tv on (always have fans on for white noise). Didn't help. Tried tylenol pm, no help. Even the zanaflex isn't keeping me asleep.

Then I started sleeping less. I was at about 8 hrs and I'm down to 5. I'm hoping I don't start with another round of insomnia.

Anybody else have trouble staying asleep?

HI Brain~!

Tho I am not a heavy sleeper I have noticed over the last several months doing the same thing. REminds me of what you go through in preparation for childbirth and being UP with that little one.

I took it as spiritually getting ready for my new job where I do have to get up early..ugh.

But menapause does this as well. Or.. who knows...

Hope you get your much needed rest and soon!!

for me, if it's really humid out - I get muscle spasms that will wake me up. Took me a long time to figure it out until I had one that kept twitching when I woke.

Hope your not in for another bout of insomnia.

I do it too but mine is insomnia, and pain, was wondering did you rearrange the room maybe changed clocks or moved it?

I've always been a light sleeper...well, ever since my first child was born 25 years ago! Ever since then I've slept with one eye open. I've always been an early bird, though.

I started having the sleep interruptions every two hours. I'd sleep for two hours, wake up and it would take me 30 minutes to an hour to go back to sleep.

I think as we get older our bodies are adjusting to the change and sleep is one of the things affected. Just my take on it - nothing scientific to prove it.

I've tried not to get too wrapped up in it because I know I can take a nap if needed (tho I'd rather sleep at night and not during the day). Seems the more I stress about it the worse I sleep. I've tried Advil PM and Somenex and they both made me sleepy but neither kept me asleep. I had a prescription for Ambien but my Neuro told me not to take it every night as it messes up the sleep hormones. I think my sleep hormones are already messed up...hence the need for a sleep aid!! On a side note...I've just upped my LDN dose to 3.0 and I slept better last night than I have in a long time. It may not last but I'll take it while I can get it!! :)

Good luck - and let us know if you find something that works for you!

Brain, sorry you are dealing with this.... hope it isn't insomnia either. I get up every hour or so but have been doing it for quite some time due to spasms. Good Luck!

At least you're falling back to sleep. That's a good thing. But it still stinks.

I can go through bouts of that too. Sometimes, too, my body clock decides to reset itself. I used to work a lot of midnight shifts. I'll end up finding myself drifting back in bedtime because I can't fall asleep. Or if I do, I wake up just like you're describing. The only thing that helps me is to stay awake for about a 24 hour period. That seems to reset things.

Have you tried getting up in the middle of the night for a while and just doing quiet stuff like reading or writing? When that used to happen to me all the time (after my car accident), I would get up and get a nice cup of herbal tea and read. I'd be up a couple of hours and then go back to sleep.

Hope you get it figured out! You may need to be creative.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

So far it's nothing more than annoying. It's not interrupting my life. It's not even affecting how much I dream - which is still a whole lot of crazy stuff.

Last night, I graduated a language program for the police, went to Clay Center to visit my (late) grandma , (had to cut roots off her front door and dig dirt off the house to knock) and evesdropped on my doctor (his nurse was giving him an earful for working too hard and he was getting sick).

No wonder I'm tired.

Congrats on the language class. What language??? Did you speak it with your dead gram? (oh, there's a pun in there somewhere)

Man, you're busier asleep than I am awake!
