Anemia questions

My neuro told me today I have mild anemia. She told me to go to the internist for additional testing. Could this be from Tysabri? Is this something that happens commonly with MS?

I think it's just you Nat...You're special, it's because you don't have your book done yet! LOL! Sorry...

I seem to remember reading something on the Ty insert about anemia. You might want to read it.

I became anemic this year after I had surgery. After several tests found out I'm bleeding internally from the surgery.

I take Hematinic to help supplement my iron levels.

I do not have MS but am severely iron deficient (borderline anemic but not yet) and take a prescription iron once a day called Repliva. My iron deficiency is due to heavy periods.

The Repliva was the best tolerated of all the iron meds for me and the fact that I only have to take it once a day is great.

Good luck.

Yeah, I saw that in the Ty insert too. But it was a bunch of guinea pigs with 5x the dose. :D Am I like a guinea pig?? The neuro didn't think it was Ty related. Maybe I need to start taking vitamins.

Oh that book...it's hanging over me like a big black cloud. I've decided now to call it the "rough draft." ;) Maybe that will get me off my butt! It's a bit intimidating.

Hey Natalie,

When you go to the doc make sure he tests your b12 and folate as well as your ferritin level, iron and total ion binding capacity. Might help give a clue as to what is pointing to the anemia.
