Been hit by a steam train.......

I've been sick for the past week to 10 days with a nasty chest infection. It started with a Strep throat which spread to a chest infection and once again I lost my voice from laryngitis. That's twice in the past few months that I've had a virus like this and lost my voice.

I was on 2 different types of antibiotics this time; one for the strep in my throat, and one for the chest infection. Yesterday I finished the antibiotics and my chest really does feel a whole heap better.....the only trouble now is that I feel like I've been hit by a steam train! If not a train then a ton of bricks!

The fatigue has hit me and I just cannot stay awake. Every afternoon I collapse and sleep for at least two hours. I haven't felt this washed out since I had the hemicolectoy last September.

I daresay it's the after effects of the virus and ensuing chest infection that I had, but gee wizz! It sure aint nice! :(

Good grief, woman! No wonder you feel like you've been run over by a train!

So sorry, Anne. I hadn't realized you were still so sick. Guess I thought you ought to just get better. (Wish you had!)

BTW, is there any part of your little bod that hasn't been attacked in the past year?

You really do need to rest as much as possible, my furry friend. Indulge yourself and take a nice long bath following a nice long nap. Then repeat as often as necessary.

Give yourself some time to build up strength -- you've been through a LOT!

Hope you feel better very soon. C'mere and lemme tickle you behind the ears. Awwwww, that's better! ;)

Oh my dear...I'm so sorry. I wish I was there to give you a warm cup of tea...hope you can get on top of this soon.

If your going to hop in the hot tub put a few tablespoons of ground ginger in the water...it might break up what hangin out in your chest. I think the world of ya...Olhipie said to make some toast and put some vegimite on it...I probably didn't spell it right but Olhipie just wanted to make you laugh...love your guts as he would say!!

Aww... thank you lovely ladies!

I guess just about all of me has been attacked in some way Twink, but if it helps any, I got my stitches out yesterday where I got the melanoma removed from my back and that at least is healing well!

Thank you Tammy & Craig for the ground ginger suggestion. I haven't heard of that before but I think I'll put it in the Spa bath and see what happens. It certainly can't hurt and if it helps to stop steam trains....then I'm all for it.

Tell Craig thank you for the Vegemite suggestion. I just loves Vegemite on toast, but I usually add cheese to the top of mine.

All our babies are brought up here with Vegemite. Dried rusks with vegemite .....Yummo!

Oh my dear...I told you what the Olhipie said about the Vegemite...and he went...yuck...I guess it must be an aquired taste...I guess like he put apple sauce on him Mac and Cheese...

What is Vegemite made from??

It's made from hops. To be more accurate it's made from the dross left over from beer making. As it's very rich in Vitamin B, back in 1922 a scientist decided to make it into a spread....thus Vegemite was discovered.

I love it, but then I was brought up on it!

Praying for you as you continue to improve. May God grant you strength and peace.

Aww, Anne, I had no idea you were sick. :( I hope you're on the mend now, though. You've been through a lot - physically and emotionally - the past few months so it's expected that your poor little body needs to rest. Take it easy and take care of yourself.

Hey, there was a song that had a lyric about a vegemite sandwich...."Down Under" by Men At Work. I always wondered what a vegemite sandwich was and now I know!! Thanks! :)

Anne - I am sorry you haven't been feeling well again - get some rest and remember your body is telling you something when it makes you so tired!

YOU need the rest!
