Successful Injections...almost pain free!

A week ago I had my last epidural injection for the year. I have surgery my 5th, scheduled for October 6th. I was in a world of pain so the doc shot me up...I have hardly used any pain meds since then. Everyday I feel better!:D

I'm still being careful as not to harm anything. I feel the surgery is going to help me with pain because the doc has injected the nerves that are in the areas that he will be repairing...I have received relief everytime.

I am looking forward to having the surgery however I do know what a long and laboring recovery comes with any major surgery.

I just wanted all of you to know that epidurals can sometimes give relief!:)

Hi there

CONGRATS on the injections and being pain free. What are you having done exactly? Cervical or Lumbar? Just curious and what kind of surgery. GOOD LUCK to you!

That is the best thing that can happen, for now the doctors will know where to operate. They can now pinpoint your problem area.
I haven't been as lucky. i had my 3rd injection with little relief. So back to square one. I have been going round and round for years it seems. Nothing seems to help.

My problems are in my lumbar area. I was born with Spina Bifida Occulta. The SB only affected my and my L5 and L6. I have 6 lumbar. I do have some bladder problems that SB will sometimes cause. Over the years, my surgeries were to correct herniated disc and vertebrae that seem to do what they want.

My surgery will fix two herniated disc, L2 to L3 and L3 to L4. My L4 is what I call my floater…it moves all over the place. The doc will be refusing my earlier fusions and removing bone spurs as well. I’m sure, once he opens me up there will be other things that don’t always show on up films.

I'm really glad I got the epidural because of the pain relief it has given me. However, they don't last very long with me so I'm slowly getting my pain back. At least I had a little pain free time. It was worth it. As bad as my pain was I don't want to even imagine how bad it would be if I had not done it.
