If MS and abnormal paps weren't enough...
3 days ago, the cyst I've had on my back (upper, kinda near my shoulder) began hurting!
I've had this cyst for years now. Once before it became in this state of being swollen and red (around the skin). I was put on some prescription at the time, and sent off. They refused to remove it saying, "Eh, if it happens again MAYBE we'll consider removing it". Well, I know why it gets in this state. It's in a spot that's always touching the back of my chair. When I lie in the bathtub and read, it has pressure on it from the hard wall of the tub. My purse strap just happens to also hang right over it, and that doesn't help the matter. So I have an appointment for 8:40pm tonight to go see my doctor about this. Luckily they fit me in. I know my parents both have cysts. My mom had them on her scalp (poor Mom) and she had that one removed x3 and it always returned. I just honestly want them to lance the thing and take the chance of it returning at this point. Ugh. What a pain in the butt (or back! lol). |
Sorry about that Laura. I hope they can remove it and it'll stay gone for a long time. My MIL had cysts on her scalp and one on her face too. She had them removed but they gradually would start to come back.
DH has them on his scalp as well, but so far refuses to get them removed. (They'd have to shave the hair in that spot.) His doctor told him years ago that they're harmless. It sure bothers me sometimes when I'm cutting his hair though. I guess he's lucky they aren't in a spot where they can get irritated easily. |
Yeah, before I had a GP and was going to various clinics to see doctors for other ailments (which happened to turn out to be MS symptoms! Dur!) I'd have the doctors look at it. All said, "Oh, looks like a cyst, harmless".
MY GP looked at it the first time I met her, and same story. "Looks like a cyst, harmless". Well, cyst is puffy, red and sore now! |
aww you poor kitten! That is awful. I had one that used to be rubbed by my bras. After I stopped wearing bras it went away. while i wore them, it kept raw and sore.
I hope they remove it for you. |
I hope they remove it, too! I had a mole on my back removed quite a long time ago at the dermatologist's suggestion -- it was small but it was raised. Just to make sure, it was biopsied (everything was fine).
I'm surprised that they're reluctant to remove it! |
hopefully it can be removed easily and you can stop hurting
Laura:hug: |

Beary, I imagine they're hesitant to remove it, because of the possibility of it returning. We'll see what doc says tonight though. |

My boyfriend will be sad, but I think me and my back will be very happy, and I wont have to spend a lot of money trying to find a bra that doesnt have structural failures so often. I also have a mole on the front of my shoulder, that the strap rubs on occasionally. But, it usually doesnt cause me a problem. |
Geez Laura . . . are you re-living my life?
I had a cyst removed from my forehead in my mid thirties. It was one of those hard, underground ones (not the boil type), that would never have surfaced on it's own. I waited a year, and it was getting bigger. I had it taken out by a plastic surgeon, because it was large and would leave a scar. She cut so that the scar is in a natural "wrinkle" place, and now my wrinkles have caught up with it. :D It's really no big deal to have removed. They just froze it while I was awake, and did the minor surgery. The only part that bothered me was the sound. Cherie |
LOL maybe Cherie, maybe! ;)
Mine's kinda soft feeling (it was 'hard' when it was small, after it had shrunk from my IVSM trips). Doc. appointment is very soon, so we'll see what she says then. :p |
