Is this progression?
I have noticed a change in my balance lately. Even in my walking. My legs burn when I go up too many steps.
My last appointment with my MS doctor was July 1st. I could still walk on my toes with both feet and go back on my heel on one foot. Now I can do none. I know, it may sound silly I am checking these things but I have noticed a difference in getting around. Am I progressing? I am on Avonex and know it takes sometime to work but I am concerned because I have several new symptoms. I see my doctor in two weeks. LA |
Sls, are you having other SX. Have you contacted your Neuro generally anything over 24-48 hrs, neuros tend to want to know about these SX, I hope its not and just a relapse of some sorts. be careful walking dont get hurt:hug:

Possibly, however it is most likely just the normal ups and downs of MS.

Write it all down on a calendar, every day, La. Just dedicate one to the purpose and make yourself a scale of say, 1-10 where what you are currently experiencing is say, a 2 or a 3. Monitor the changes from when you were in your neuro appt., you were at a 0 or a 1. Does that make sense?
In 6 months, compare your notes with your neuro. The unfortunate reality that we all face daily is that no one can answer your question. But keeping track of symptoms and changes will help you see across a longer span of time and help clarify things. If you go for weeks just writing the same digit on the calendar and not describing new changes, then great, your neuro will appreciate the patches when you are making more notes. I hope it's just a temporary setback! |
New, or worsening of existing symptoms, lasting longer then 24 - 48 hrs, indicates an attack . . . unless you have an infection going on somewhere. Have you been checked for a UTI, had a cold lately, have problems with your teeth, etc. ...?
The burning ~ is it like fire burning on the skin, or muscle burning? If they feel like they a blow torch is on them, you MIGHT want to try an antihistimine. I have no idea why Benadryl has been helping me with that (and the pin-prick itching), but I guess some allergic reaction is stirring up my neurological symptoms. How long have you been on Avonex now? Awwwww, I hope not LA..:( It could be the heat and humidity?
I hope it's just a temporary thing and you feel better soon.. |
Hello,
That is a thought. I am not sure but I do know it has been hot and humid here. I have gone from wanting to be a Florida girl to being grateful I live where is snows! :) Quote:

My skin is ok, it is deep muscle burn. I don't have pain but an intense burn if my muscles are used for more than easy walking.
No UTI that I am aware of. A sniffle here and there but nothing that I would actually call an illness. I have had some TN pain flaring up at times and that does bother my teeth. I will take my 31st injection this evening. I know Becky has had a lot of trouble and thought is might be the A at first but I do not have actual pain in my legs, just spasms, burning, and cramping. Thank you, that is a good idea!

Another thing that is new is something odd with my eyes. When I am watching TV sometimes my eyes will jump. I have to refocus back on the tv screen. My eyess don't seem to be jittery as in Nystagmus. It feels like a muscle spasm in my head that jerks my eyes off of what I am looking at.
This started happening about 3 weeks ago. No, I have not called my MS doctor about it, I know, I am BAD. :( too busy with the kids and school starting. Quote:
