Infrared helmet dangerous?
 

Shortly after I was dxed in January, there were a number of posts regarding the invention of a helmet that can irradiate the brain with infrared light to stimulate neuron growth, thus reversing the effects of Alzheimer’s and PD. I was intrigued and explored the possibility of building a similar device myself, but I decided my budget wouldn't allow it. Based on an article I discovered recently and its associated responses, that may have been a good thing. It seems that claims for the helmet are based on inadequate research and that rather than healing, the infrared radiation it provides may actually have the potential to rapidly cause irreversible brain damage. If you're planning on building or using such a device, be sure you have enough information to make an informed decision

I think you'll find that 1072nm technology has been around for over 50 years, it's far from new. It's also safe for all but epileptics, and when you read this years press release on how effective it is on Parkinsons, I think you'll be very interested in using it.
The above article is written by people with no personal experience in using the technology, therefore carries no weight. In the last 3 years much has been achieved, 2011 will be the year you can read the studys in the journal of Neuroscience.
