Cyst woes again

So I have my antibiotic cream for this cyst, and I started on September 10th applying it to the cyst twice daily.

We're the 14th now, and the cyst has grown! It's like, LET ME OUT!!!!

Still no word on the specialist either who I'm supposed to be seeing about removing this either. I think if it's still red and bigger than smaller, I'll be calling my GP tomorrow to say, ok enough is enough, and probably then go to the ER for removal if she can't.

Oh so this is why you said in my post something about cysts. What IS up with that, if it isn't one thing i is another....

Don't ya just love how all these docs set us up with a specialist that takes like 9 years to get an appointment with them......

I have not even HEARD from my PCP on the specialist they are sending me to......

I'll go to the ER with ya laura we can be "Cyst" buddies.............:)

Seriously though, I hope it works out soon for yours......

Joe

Thanks Joe. I'll be calling tomorrow if this thing looks like it did last night. If the redness finally starts to fade though, I can wait for the specialist. Its on my back (by shoulder) so it's in an annoying spot for sure... if I move the wrong way in bed, I hit it, and OUCH.

Is this one of "those" kind that might erupt? I get that type too.

If so . . .

- DON'T poke at it.
- in case you get tempted, DON'T poke at it!!
- leave it completely alone, except that ointment. Use that faithfully, as prescribed.
- After 2 - 3 weeks, start using hot compresses on it, once or twice a day
- DON'T poke at it, it will cause it to run and hide underground (till the next time it flares up)!

You will know when it's ready to drain and eventually one of the hot compresses will prompt it to.

Yeah, eruption is what I thought. I'll keep at the ointment and see in a week and a half what's up ;)

I actually called my doctor's office today, she's on vacation of course!

So I called Telecare, and asked the nurse if it would be OK to try and get this thing to drain naturally. I do not have fever with it, but it looks like a volcano, minus the head, about to erupt!

They said definitely fine, hot compresses 3 times daily for 20 minutes. I can handle that. Good thing I'm not heat intolerant when it comes to that stuff.

Did I mention DON'T poke at it?

Don't press on it either. Gentle hot compresses only.

It'll still take 2 - 3 weeks all up, I bet. :p

I think I recall you mentioning something about not poking it! ;)

I try not to press on it, but accidents happen, such as, leaning back in my chair and doing the OUCH.

I can wait 2-3 weeks for this thing. It's been there for years now =(

Is this a cyst or a boil, laura?? My DS had both. The cyst literally inflamed and was extremely tender to the touch. The Dr's had to drain it.

The boil erupted itself after hot baths and hot compresses. The boil bled like crazy, but went away after it popped.

Cherie gave you some great advice esp the DO NOT TOUCH! take care and let us know what happens.

Oh it's definitely a cyst. It's been a hard lump under my skin since.. gosh. I think it's been there 5 or 6 years now that I've noticed?

My doctor's looked at it quite a few times. It just wants out of there now! I've been doing hot compresses and keeping on top with the cream :)

NO TOUCHIE BAD BAD! :)
