Lyme Disease discussion

I was going through a list of symptoms for Lyme disease and I have a rather large number of them, or have had but less severely now that I've been off gluten/dairy, but then again, the list is huge. I wouldn't say I've got any of them terribly severely like Lyme disease patients can get.

I'm just wondering... do you think this might be worth badgering my doctor over? Lyme carrying ticks aren't terribly common in my area. I just have a fear this might be the diagnosis du jour of the alternative medicine people and might get pooh-poohed by my doctor.

Any thoughts?

I think it may be worth checking into. The problem is that tests are notoriously false negative, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't look into it. I know Igenex is the lab, and Lymenet the forum, and that there are several on BTers who are quite knowledgable. I've also known several who had gluten sensitivity, Lyme disease, and B12 deficiency...ALL. And all needed to be treated before they got well.

The symptoms do overlap a great deal, and I had sort of wait listed myself for further Lyme disease testing...should my symptoms re-emerge (thankfully they haven't in over five years). Actually, my neurologist had run the standard Lyme titre before he thought to check my B12, and it was negative...but I now know that doesn't say much.

I honestly don't think it would hurt and as I just told Hanna I think lots of CD might be related in a chicken-egg situation with things like this.

There is apparently a second test which is much more accurate than the standard ELISA test....

at the same time i think its perhaps also malade du jour ... but I honestly don't see why you wouldn't check it out and then either dismiss it or not!
