Hi new here

My son has been diagnosed with a suspected aneurysm in his brain by his GP and is waiting to see a neurologist. As he waited 6 weeks for an urgent MRI and two and a half weeks for the results we don't know when this will be. My son is 38 and has had high blood pressure for 8 years. About 7 months ago he started to have very bad headaches that persisted most of the day. Recently his mouth has been filling with blood but the doctor doesn't seem to know where it is coming from. I am so concerned and want to know everything about this condition so we know how to deal with it.
Thank you

I am very sorry to hear about your son. Has he been referred to a neurosurgeon yet? Sounds pretty scary to have what's going on with him happening. The sites Jo55 mentioned are really helpful to learn everything you can. One thing I have heard over and over is blood pressure is important to keep under control. I'm sure you've already been told this. If you need to vent let me know. I have a aneurysm as well - it is small but non the less I am symtomatic from something and so understand some of the fear that goes with finding out about these things.

I wish you well and welcome to NeuroTalk.

Please use force to get the mri/mra's done as soon as possible. I don't know where you live, but I had my ct scan which showed something? My Primary care physician called me the same day and said you need to get an mri/mra done asas, I called and told them I needed it done very quickly and it was done in the same week, with our insurance comanys approval. In one week I saw two brain specialist, and had clipping of a 12 mm posterior aneurysm done, This was just this July, I am back to work, no problems so far, just can't lift anything over ten lbs or ride rollercoasters. If an aneurysm is suspected, then please get help quickly, if it is bleeding into the brain this is very serious. THe blood in the mouth I don't think can be associated, its more the headaches, dizziness, numbness in limbs that are associated. I had none of those I had just a slight dizzieness and some deja vu feelings along with mine.

Hi Spearoelo and welcome to NeuroTalk.

I agree with the others. I would really push for an earlier MRI.

My pcp did that for me. The MRI place wouldn't get me in for 3 weeks. My doctor got me in in two days.

Please keep us posted.
