while i be in the land of other folks
other folks who've needlessly died
folks talk of trivial things i don't get
guess i'm just not their kind

the kind who hurts when innocents die
the kind who sheds big tears
though i've been surrounded by death
for more than my lifelong years

i still hurt when innocents die
for things that ain't their fault
i still grieve for the babies that die
saying guess this is just our lot
