Self-Imposed Technology Disconnect?

Ever just take time off from the 'net, boards, tv, phone, etc? If so, how long, what prompted you to do it...did you enjoy it...all those happy questions:rolleyes:...

I'm think I just need a vacation, but don't know where to start. Or maybe I do, not sure....do you announce it, or just disconnect?

So I've taken up a poll...

I'd at least let a few close members know by PM, if you don't want to announce it to everyone.:grouphug:

I took 2 weeks off this summer while on vacation, but let people know on insights I would be gone. I would let those you are closest to know. Otherwise, they will be looking for you and worried.

I take 4 or so months off yearly but do pm and email members that I know -

Thanks. It's not this board in particular. I'm fine with how often I come here and the overall vibe of the place. And if I did need to go away from here, I'd find a way, usually in my profile section to let ya'll know ;)

Maybe I'll try a week with the place I have in mind, then go from there :)

I've been overtired this week, self-imposed, and wow, I can totally see how my lesions affect me emotionally when I'm overtired. My lesions just happen to exist on that inner brain, oy vey.

When overtired, I don't write as clearly and conscisely, I make typos(more than usual) and I wayyy overreact. I don't like feeling like that. It makes me feel like I'm feeding into the stereotype that exists on that board, and I'd rather step back and wait until I feel better. MS really stinks that way sometimes

Thank you for responding to my post. :)

I have taken time off for vacations where I didn't have access to the internet. I didn't announce it, and I don't think anyone missed me while I was away! Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing...;)

I don't pick up my phone messages for 2 -3 weeks at a time, and most people know that. :D

If I need a break from the forums, I usually just read and don't respond . . . or I stick to the easy topics. Usually it's not really a conscious choice, I just burn out and stop talking so much.

I've never been able to stay away completely (not reading or anything) unless I was on vacation or very sick. When that has happened, there's always been a few people that know (on the private forums I attend) that would say something here if someone asked.

I enjoy my breaks as much as I enjoy being on the forums. :D

Yes, I have and with no forewarning to anyone. And I enjoyed it.

Sometimes virtual reality drama can be too much and I need to live in the real world. So if I get anti-social, I just disappear for my head. When I"m ready, I come back.

Taking a break isn't bad. Plus you get more done at home. ;)

I don't take any official "vacation" from technology, but sometimes it all seems to be too much, and I'll stay away from the computer, TV, phone, etc for a day or two. It's good for my psyche to spend quality time with myself..
