Charges for SSDI

I have a friend that lives in California and was wondering is there a cap on the amount an attorney can charge her for taking her case? I thought that there was a cap in all states?? Thanks for any inout you can offer...

$5300 :)

And they can charge for any out of pocket monies spent, usually 100 bucks or so. My attorney just took the 5300.

And the $5300 is only if they win your case.

something has certainly changed - in 1998 I only had to fill out a form - have it verified by my neurologist and I was on disability - why do you need a lawyer ?????

karenmarie... much has changed since 98.... very few are approved as you were... many people go through denial after denial... that's the reason for needing an attorney. I've been waiting nearly 4 years.

Another way for lawyers to get a piece of the pie - I would think that when a doctor says you can no longer work - it should stick - after all - who knows better - your doctor or a judge !! I'll have my fingers crossed for all of you -
