Recipe ideas please

I admit it, I am not a cook. So there, it's out in the open! I picke dup my first ever Angel Food order today and it has MEAT in it! I have chicken fajita strips and don't know what to do with thme. I think II can handle the pork chops but I also have rib-eye steaks and I do not grill and am not sure what to do with them either. I also have corn tortillas. I'm thinking that I miht use the fajita strips with them but don't know what to do. I can handle the chocolate cookies.

Corn tortillas, chicken fajita strips, spanish rice (from an Uncle Ben's 90 second in the bag heat 'n eat package), and fresh tomato chopped up. Side salad, and you're done. Um.... you could put a mixture of corn, black beans, onion, and fresh tomato chunks instead of spanish rice.

You can send the chocolate cookies to me as a thank you! :D

I usually cut up red, green and yellow bell peppers and saute' in olive oil until tender, then add the chicken (if it's already pre-cooked) until it's heated through. If the chicken is not already seasoned with fajita seasoning I'd buy a packet of it and follow the directions for fajitas.

Whenever I get stumped for a recipe I just google whatever it is I'm looking for (chicken fajita, rib eye steak, corn tortillas) and a bunch of recipe ideas pop up.

Do you have a freezer? You can freeze whatever you can't cook in the next few days.

What else did you get in your box? It's supposed to be a great deal - over $60 worth of groceries for $30.

In addition to the rib eye steaks, fajita strips and pork chops, I got a big bag of meatballs and a meat loaf. I also got pasta, marina sauce, eggs, shelf stable milk, california blend veggies and Hawaiian punch. Oh, a package of hot dogs.

what I liked the best is that I got a box for my sister also. After her mastectome and chemo her DH is doing laundry, cooking, cleaning, sometimes bathing her and working full time. So I was glad to do a little of her grocery shopping.

The November menu has a Thanksgiving box you can order in addition to the regular order but I don't think it is worth $30. It has a Thanksgiving dinner for 4 which includes and 6 pound hen.

Just a thought, but there is a food court forum here. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum109.html

You might try taking a look there to see if there are any recipes that might help you!

Foodnetwork has some great ideas too http://www.foodnetwork.com/

they have a searchable database.

I make stir fry with chicken fajita chicken. its well seasoned, and easy. Add whatever veggies you have in your fridge. Saute in olive oil. you can also just use them for a well flavored chicken soup. use broth to simmer, and add the chicken. dump in all those veggies from the fridge/freezer. corn, a bit of bacon, rice, and you have a nice chicken corn chowder. Really good on a cold day.

My mom gets those angel boxes, and its made a world of difference for her.

You can pan fry those steaks. pound them out, and fry them up!

you have to share the cookies. sorry. :winky:

For the chicken strips as someone suggested if you don't have Spanish spices cook an inexpensive box of Spanish etc. put the chicken in it and add a can of corn, black beans and chopped tomatoes if you have for a really big but cheap meal. You can still roll it up in the tortillas. It freezes ok also if there are left overs. The rice will get a bit mushy but it still tastes good.

That sounds like a really nice selection of food.
