Good things happened to me today!

First, I just found my out-of-print-extremely-expensive-to-replace crochet reference book that's been missing for MONTHS! (found it in my closet, not my normal storage place for my crochet books)

and second, I went to the neuro today, and apparently I'm in a remission. (yay!) My neuro said that I'm walking normally. (I didnt know I hadnt been) and that the weird numbness I had in my lower lip the other day was probably because I havent been sleeping well. He said I was pretty normal today.

I'm not sure what he bases the idea that I'm in a remission on...maybe he's going by the last couple of visits with him. He said I had a nearly normal exam the last time I saw him...and this time I was normal. So, maybe he averages out the results of the exams over several visits?

Oh, and he's rethinking his decision about not giving me LDN. He's going to research it some more, and will tell me if he'll at least let me try it when I go back for my next neuro visit. (oh, please please please! Give me some LDN!!!!!!)

Oooo...and I got home this afternoon, and my dad asked me if I wanted to go yarn shopping. (I crochet and knit) That was a silly question for him to ask me. I ALWAYS want to buy yarn. I didnt get any yarn today, but I did get a new crochet hook and a new pair of knitting needles. (my dad got some yarn and new knitting needles for himself)

Today was a really nice day...even the weather was good...and we went out for dinner.

I guess I'm going to pay soon for having such a nice day, but at least I've got my missing crochet book back.

Sounds like a good visit, Erin.

He would say you are in remission if there is no "obvious" activity, ie. an all-on attack. Fluctuating/fleeting symptoms don't count.

Seems you are slowly wearing him down on the LDN . . . that's the way to do it. :D

yeah, everytime I ask him about LDN, I think his hearing aid malfunctions, because it seems like he thinks I'm always asking about another MS medication (cant remember the name of the med, just remember that it can cause cardiac problems, and you can only take it for a limited amount of time)

But, I think this time, I got him to understand what I'm asking about. He told me to do a little research too and bring him some info on LDN. Which irritated me a bit, because the last time I saw him, I took printouts (some of the one you sent me info on) and he didnt want to read it then. I didnt take the printout with me this time (think I threw it out when I cleaned out my yarn bag I carry with me)

Hopefully he'll let me at least try the LDN. I want to take it with the Copaxone (as long as current research says that it's safe to do so.)

At least he seemed more receptive to the idea this time. I dont think I came off as a nutjob asking about it this time. All I did was just mention that I would still like to try it, even tho he told me the last time I saw him that he thought it was a placebo. I told him I'd still like to try it because of all the anecdotal evidence that I've heard from every MS person that I've talked to who's taken LDN. I know it doesnt work for everyone, but I wont know if it works until I try it.

Hopefully I'll get an LDN Rx as a late Xmas present (next neuro appointment is in January)

Erin,
Glad to hear about your good neuro visit. That's great news.
It was probably Novantrone that your neuro mistakingly thought you were talking about. A lot of neuros seem to confuse the two.

I'm a yarnie for crochet and knitting. I used to do thread occasionally, never really seriously tho. I dont use thread when I crochet anymore because my fingers dont like the skinny hooks and thin thread. Strangely enough, I can knit with the skinny knitting needles tho.

I have enough patterns to keep me busy for quite awhile, so I dont need any new patterns at the moment.

Right now I'm about to finish crocheting a shawl, and later today if I dont have to go anywhere, I'm finishing up my knitted scarf.

dangit..gotta go, the heating company just called, they're coming over to do a safety check on the furnace....no crocheting for me yet.
