Hubble Telescope

is back in service and sending its cool pics back to us...

Check it out if they're available on line.

We'll set a date for the Hubble rehab shuttle mission (STS-125) um... Well, I know the date. I just don't remember it right now... I blame MS. Or beer...

STS-126 to the space station is still slated for 11/14 liftoff but this may move up. This I WILL know tomorrow cuz I gotta go to the FRR (Flight Readiness Review). Assuming I remember, I'l let y'all know... This is important - we wanna get the astronauts back before thanksgiving and right now a 11/14 launch means they come back 11/28. We want to move it up 3 days.

There's another concern - it's called the "beta angle". We're good up to about the 28th - angle of the sun supplying enough juice to the solar panels to support 10 people in the ISS (envision this - 10 people flush the toilet a whole bunch more than 3 people do...). After the 28th - well, we're stuck with a lousy sun angle on the solar panels until the end of January.

And you probably thought all this stuff had alot to do with Zen...

Thanks Tom!

Good to see that they fixed the glitch on the Hubble. Did someone trip over a wire somewhere?:p I'm happy to hear that the repair mission is still a go.

Now about the sun...can you have them turn a bit and beam a ray or two down my way? It's getting cold! I left for work the other night and *gasp*...it was spittin' snow! It's not even November yet!!!

thanks, Tom ...

no more hurricanes for awhile!!

btw ... if the government utilizes the sun for heat and power ... how come our power companies don't utilize it to pass on the 'free' cost to us??

okay - back to the hubble!!
