Trying some new meds for constipation
I went to a Gastroenterologist today. I'm still dealing with constipation. It's gotten worse. I tried Merilax and it did nothing for me and he says he doesn't think that it is very good for severe constipation. Although I know it does help some.
He put me on some meds today. One is a script and 2 are over the counter. They are Amitza, one is Align, and the other is Kondremul. Have any of you tried any of these? I am having a colonoscopy next week to find out if I have a blockage or something else going on. Thanks for the help on this. Ada |
Hi Ada,
I haven't tried either one, I just wanted to drop in and say "hello, and I hope you are doing OK". Take care. I wish you the best. Keep us posted. I do hope you are OK. Hugs, Diana |
Are you on narcotic pain killers? These slow down the intestines and bring on constipation. I found the most effective thing for me was to take a dose of metamucil or equivalent with each dose of methadone. If I expected trouble I'd take a little senecot the night before (it's in several of the laxatives). As a last resort or if you miscalculate there are the stool softeners. If all that doesn't work I'm not sure what's next.

Hi girls,
Diana,
I am doing ok. Dealing with health issues as usual so I don't get on much. I am going to the Dermotologist today. This is my 3rd and last appt. this week. I can sleep in tomorrow. My brother has terminal colon cancer as Mom had so they want to make sure it's nothing major with the colonoscopy. This will be my 4th sibling I have lost to cancer. Hi Imahotep, I have been off of the Methadone for over 4 months. Prevacid is the only med I am taking. We have tried meds and over the counter meds for the constipation so hopefully this Gasto can help me. Ada |
