How do you get info on a doctor?

There used to be a way to find out all about a physician before you got to go and see him.

My landlord needs a specialist in Ear Nose and Throat. They have a name. Is there a link on the internet, where I can type in this doctor's name and they'll give me information on him.

for ex. malpractice, is he good, is he bad??

Thanks much.

your state website should have a medical board section.
- ours lists if dr have been disciplined or license revoked.

New York state -

Jo:
I clicked on the link, and then clicked on PHYSICIANS. You have to keep clicking on next until you get to the physician you are looking up. The guy's last name begins with the letter P.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but there SHOULD be a way to put in the guy's name, right?

Or do I keep just clicking NEXT, NEXT NEXT, until I get the guy's name.

if I do it this way, this will take two hours.

Any suggestions?
thanks, Melody

most state searches

only tell you if the doctor is licensed and if they have formal
complaints against them.
It will NOT show patient reviews or liability suits.

There used to be a rating service on the net, but I think it went down.

But here are examples:
http://www.ratemds.com/social/

http://www.drscore.com/

http://www.vimo.com/doctor/doctorreviewsall.php

I have no idea if any of the above are accurate or legit.
It was just a simple Google search.

Thanks Mrs. D. You're a better google searcher than I am.

Oh by the way, Alan went to have an emg and a nerve conduction test yesterday by his neurologist. He has to go for a blood test next week and he goes there Monday to get the results of the tests.

Should be interesting.
I'll post an update on his condition. I have no idea if the IVIG is helping his neuropathy but I gather she'll compare the original tests with the ones he had yesterday and she'll hit him with the news.

I'll post info on PN forum.
And thanks again for all the help on rating doctors. I put in all our doctors and they did not come up. I guess no one rated them. lol

My insurance co has a website where I get info. That is how I picked my PCP. It tells if they've had a malpractice suit, where and when they went to med school, and some other stuff about the doc if they wish to post that.

I had blood tests Friday and EMG/ nerve conduction yesterday (weds). So I sympathize with Alan. I see my doc the 20th for results. I hope your husband gets good news.
