Holiday Mail for Heroes
From the front lines to the home front, the American Red Cross provides service members, their families and veterans with the care and assistance they need.

The Red Cross is partnering with Pitney Bowes this holiday season for the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign. For the second year in a row, we’re collecting holiday cards to distribute to American service members, those in hospitals, as well as veterans and their families in the United States and around the world. Pitney Bowes is generously donating technology, resources and postage to make this holiday card program possible.

Our goal is to collect and distribute one million holiday cards to spread holiday cheer and facilitate thanks to these brave individuals and families.

Please send cards to this address, following the guidelines listed below:

Thanks, Nik, this is one of my passions, if everyone did only a few cards and sent them off quickly, all the soldiers would receive many greetings from a grateful nation.

It's important! I'm aiming to write 30 this year, who will join me?

I'm in! In fact, I'm heading out to take care of some errands and will buy cards while I'm out.

I think this is a great cause and I feel like everyone should take part. It's because of these brave service members that we're able to even do something like this.

I was reading the guidelines and it states that each card does not need it's own envelope (as they are opened and inspected prior to sending to the troops) so you can send bunches in one large mailing envelope....that's what I'm gonna do! :)

I have a nice young man that Jim and I are sending a holiday package to. He is one of my good friends son. This is a great program. Thanks for posting.

So THAT's what you do with your fancy schmancy fountain pens! ;) Good for you!

Nikki, that's a worthy cause and I'll be sure and do a few. Doubt I can keep up with AMN, though.

Thanks for the address!

AMN, my family is doing the same as you. I bought 70 cards, I handed each sibling 10 and asked them to write something special. My lil niece is also drawing pictures, awwww. I'm glad to see others will be joining us:hug:

Sandy, that is so sweet:hug:

Awesome! I don't do the traditional Christmas card thing, the people who need to know that I care about them hear from me all through the year.

I usually just buy a couple deep-discount boxes in January and save them for now.

thank you Nikkey, deb and I will be sending some out this week, its the least we can do, to be able to put a smile on a strangers face, as he or she reads a holdiday wish and greeting from a grateful citizen of the United States, yeah its a good thing, thanks for the posting:hug:

Bumping this up

I'm giving this a "bump" because it's such a worthy cause and there's still plenty of time to write out some cards. My blog entry today was all about participating in this program so I hope to get some of my readers involved and maybe they'll also spread the word.

Thanks so much for mentioning it. I always try to support our soldiers and veterans as both my brother and sister are in Iraq in the Army. Hooah and happy holidays!
