Dry Eye Syndrom and Reynaud's Disease

:)Hi there to everyone.

I have had Reynaud's syndrome for a long time and now I have Dry Eye in a very severe way. I am supposed to have my lower tear ducts cauterized tomorrow as it is so bad. Does anyone have any familiarity with these two together. Is there any correlation between these two and Sjogren's syndrome? that anyone is aware of. Also as I am a woman in my early 50's I was wondering if there are any other women who are on RHT who have developed dry eyes as a result? Thanks for any replies.

Hi ((Alessandra)). I have a nasty case of Dry Eyes and currently treat it with eye drops. Since my last appointment in spring it's gotten worse so I'm not sure what will happen in my next spring appointment.

I don't have your other diseases but I did a little checking and found this on another site.

Quote:

What Causes Dry Eyes?

In addition to an imbalance in the tear-flow system of the eye, dry eye can be caused by the drying out of the tear film. This can be due to dry air created by air conditioning, heat, or other environmental conditions. Other conditions that may cause dry eyes are:

* The natural aging process, especially during menopause.
* Side effects of using certain medications such as antihistamines and birth control pills
* Diseases that affect the ability to make tears, such as Sjogren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and collagen vascular diseases.
* Structural problems with the eyes that don't allow them to close properly or a problem with the tear ducts.
I found it here. http://www.webmd.com/eye-health/eye-health-dry-eyes

I'm not sure which forum to direct you to as I'm sure there are people who could share with you. There is a search function in the blue bar up above. I typed in both Sjogrens and Raynauds and came up with a lot of links!

This is a wonderful community, do jump right in. You'll find everyone is very caring.
