Bill got his deer....

I know this might be a touchy subject with some because they might not believe in hunting but I just wanted to tell everyone. I was so excited. The men went back up yesterday. Dustin and Devin were out of school so they got to go also. There were 4 deer tags in the bunch and 3 elk tags. They all got their deer and they are now hunting for the elk.

I was really happy for Bill because this might be the last year he gets to go. Susan bought his tag because she wanted him to get to do it with the family. He didn't have to walk too far and he carried his Oxygen with him. They will be back in tonight so I am anxious to see the deer. I cleaned my freezer out last week and when they didn't come home with one last weekend I teased him about now having no food to eat. So now we will have deer meat and hopefully some elk meat.

Wild game is suppose to be better for health problems such as gout which Bill and Travis's Dad has. Have any of you heard that wild game is better for some health problems then beef or pork. It's also better for dieting and cholestral problems.

Anyway, I was just really excited for them and had to tell you guys.

altho i hate deer meat........

i am glad for bill that he got one.......it is bow season here, not rifle yet .....that starts next wed. the schools upnorth even close for that day..........
frank usually takes the guys up to our house upnorth for hunting each year...they look forward to it, and it is a week away for all involved.....lafffff
however, this year frank will not be able to hunt.......he is still going to go for the guys, as he doesn't want to disappoint them, and he NEEDS to get away.....so hopefully he will have a good time, just relaxing with the guys.......he rarely sees them since he was injured..................
take care ada, good to be in touch with you again........

I love that

wild meat is better for you because it is all natural. There are no hormones or other things fed to the animals to make them grow faster etc.
There is nothing better than deer sausage, or roasts. YUM
My dad got an elk, and he always gives us a lot of the meat. They are bringing it down this weekend.
Tell Bill he rocks. Way to go.

Ohhhhhhhhhh Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

ADA.
You tell Bill congratulations ok??? And good luck in bagging that Elk.

OH YUMMMMMMMMMMMM I love deer meat. As a young woman at 18, a gal a few years older than I, showed me how to prepare deer meat for cooking & then gave me her recepie for frying it. OH MY GOSH!!! It is so good. My Dad didn't really care for cooked deer meat until he let me fix him a fry pan full using the recepie this gal from Texas gave to me. He really enjoyed & even asked for me to cook him some every fall. Anyway, I miss it :( want to send some to me. I haven't had any deer meat to cook & eat since I moved to California. When living back in NW Iowa, my brother & cousins kept me in deer meat. And oh I love duck too.................really :( now. I am not down, don't get me wrong, I just really really miss that kind of meat. And Elk too???? Oh I cooked an Elk roast once & fooled my kids into thinking it was roast beef *LOL* they weren't too keen on eating 'wild' meat when little. Especially if they knew what it was ahead of time. *LOL* But oh that Elk roast was so good.

I use to cook beef liver & my kids liked it, UNTIL one evening they caught me in the act of cooking it. One look at raw liver & that was all it took *LOL* I did use to cook it for my husband at the time & myself. I am remarried now, and he hates liver. Even the smell of it cooking so I haven't had that in ages either. *sigh* the things we do give up for the loves in our life huh?
