Note to management, members AND self....
:You-Rock: :Tip-Hat: When I joined this site, I THOUGHT I was in the know and would be of some assistance in giving advice and so forth. Lately, instead of posting, I have been trying to read as many posts as I can each day.
I have figured out that I have been resting on my laurels WAY too long. Is everyone here either a scientist, researcher, involved in health services, or just a Doctor or Nurse? I am woefully behind in MS goings on! Much applause for everyone on this site!!! I mean that too. There is so much to learn here, I scarcely know where to start. I USED to be a go-to-guy for folks and could talk face to face with medical personnel. After coming here, I now know why the requests for my time and input have been dropping off. I don't think I'm depressed or anything; I just thought I'd admit my shortcomings and pass along an observation. Thank one and all for all of this input. You can bet I shall be reading with much interest. :Thanx:   :OuttaHere: MSDave |
hi dave,
i'm sure we're not all rocket scientists here. we're just regular folks, with MS. just be yourself. it takes some time to get familiar with people and vice versa. by sharing some of yourself and offering support to others you'll be on your way. and advice born of experience will be appreciated. just give it some time. :) |
Thanks Dave!
We DO have a rocket guy here! It's amazing what you find out when you set a spell and just get to know people. We have folks here from all walks of life and most of us even have MS! This board is a valuable resource to us all, for support and information and I for one, am grateful to Doc John for putting it all in motion and giving us all a place where we can share the collective vast amount of knowledge and experience! |
no Dave just a few of us are researchers and scientist the rest of us copy and paste what they say :yikes: lol, this place is awesome all the help support info and the wonderful laughs, smiles and hugs, this place do ROCK
lol thats right RW we do have a rocket scientist cool Dave take your time and share your knowledge and absorb others its what we all do except the rocket scientist guy:rolleyes: |

I'm not in the medical profession, but just about everyone in my family is except for me and my sister. We've had 5 (or 6?) nurses...one paramedic, one x-ray tech, The paramedic is going to school to be a respritory therapist and two of the nurses are/were also anesthetists. (my dad and my late uncle) My cousin is a nurse right now and she's going to anesthesia school to become an anesthetist like her dad was. (last I heard, I think) The paramedic has talked about becoming a nurse with a goal of becoming an anesthetist, but I'm not sure if he's done that. (havent talked to him for at least a year) |
Hi Dave!
You know.....I've gotten better information and advice here than I have from any doctor I've been to. This is just the best place for information, fellowship and counseling that I've ever found. Some are more knowledgeable in the medical facts, some are better at relating one on one to someone in crisis, some are great at making you laugh in the face of adversity, and some are just always here whenever you need a hug or an encouraging word. In other words, there's always someone here for you. And I think you fit right in.....so just jump in anywhere. You're always welcome here! :) |
There's never a dull moment in the "research" dept for this disease, that's for sure. I guess that's a good thing cause we know they haven't given up on us anyway. :p
What's really great about this forum, besides the people and mgmt, is that we can post links and snippets of important information ... so we are not relying solely on "interpretation". I've seen it happen before where people misunderstand information and the forum doesn't permit links to it ... which is counter-productive to having KNOWLEDGE. Knowledge is power with this disease, IMHO. Glad you're to hear you enjoying yourself here, like the rest of us. :) Cherie |
Hi Dave ...
I'm still new to this MS-thing ... and the only thing that my doctor told me after she handed me a bagful of pamphlets on MS ... was to 'stay away from hot-tubs' ... (and I don't even LIKE hot-tubs) ... Like Kelly (herekitty) says ... just to talk it out with others that are going thru it, or have dealt with some of the same issues has really calmed me down - which in turn, calmed my sx's ... everyone is different and somethings work for one and not another ... there's no magic wand .. and it's fun to chat and laugh about everything in the meantime as we figure out what's going on inside of us ... looking forward to your input ... ;) |
Thanks for the encouragement folks, really.
You will see soon enough, what can happen when you decide things\developments have reached a peak and so you stop looking and learning. When I 'was' on top of the game and could go one on one with any doctor, there were the A-B-C drugs out and Novantrone was in it's infancy. "They" weren't sure yet if the novantrone treatment was actually worth the risk, when one looked at the side effects. Anyway, looking now I see all kinds of new things out there, and the research seems new and fresh again. Currently I am working on my own cognition problems that have sprung up in the last few months; well that and a situation with sleep. Due to military training/shell-shock, I used to sleep with a 'hair-trigger,' meaning at the slightest sound I would wake in the attack mode. Being a para means for the most part I am not really too dangerous. However with this new thing, my aid will come to the door, ring the bell, let herself in, try to call my name and wake me, then use the phone to call me. When none of this works she yells my name and I jump, waking very angry. Not good; not good at all. Especially since in addition to everything else wrong, I have apnea and could wake up dead some day. Haaaaarrrumph!!! I digress, sorry. Anyway, I have a lot of irons in my personal fire right now, however I am trying to get here once a day. Not always possible but I'm trying. Discussing every aspect of MS, (well most of them anyway:winky: )is a good way of working through things one is going through. Lastly, for now, I am going to push and push my doc to drop in here and look round. I think there is much here for her to see/read. Ciao! Dave |
I was wondering what happened to ya dave! Here's to hoping your brain allows you a moments peace this evening.
