Brain Injury causing facial tightening

I am here for a friend who had a car accident 2 years ago. Apart from having to nap around twice a day she is feeling pretty good. She is a personal trainer and is back to close to before the accident. One big exception which is driving her crazy. That is when she feels any tiredness the muscles around her face tighen up stopping her from doing anything but lie down and rest. It is very dibilitating for her. She has just been to a specialist who has never heard of it before. He perscibed some drugs that those suffering form schizophrenia however they are not working. They dont want to use botox due to the large amount that would be needed and the possible loss of smile etc. She is really at wits end. Can anyone help

welcome

welcome Simon

I am sorry you friend has this problem I have sensory problems with my face, I am from the TBI forum , Now if it was a limb that was affected a nuero psychologist would most likely proscribe physiotherapy, to back train the brain, so this may help your friend, so a physiotherapist that specializes in facial anatomy , perhaps the stroke forum may have some input

has she tried acupuncture that can help with cramp type symptoms

kind regards vini
