Help
I am about 2 years into a C5 C6 Dervical fusion. Immeidately after operation the radiating and intolerable pain in my arm was gone. However, I continue to have both a numbness (at best) in part of my left hand thumb, next two fingers--radiating into hand. At the worst I experience a burning and stinging sensation. Most of the time it feels like the pain associated with coming in from the cold and getting the feeling back in your hand(s). Somedays I wish I could just cut my hand off. The fushion was done with a piece of my hip. DOC said at time (now retired) that he saw no permanent nerve damage,
Thye tested me for carpal tunnel syndrome. It is the same pain I had before operation--it just never went away. Anyone have similar experience or suggestions??? |
still trying to find my way.
i am happy that your pain was gone after surgery. i was not so lucky. i had same fusion as you and i still have the pain. i am know almost 7 months out. and i had a MRI done last month which shows 2 buging discs and 1 herniated above and below the fusion site. the numb feeling is getting better though on right side only. i however have alot of weakness and heavyness feeling in shoulders area going thru my back and pain , burning sensations etc... maybe you could ask dr. for MRI to see what is going on as well a CT scan to see if surgical site is OK.
