Need GF replacement for french fried onions

I really miss veggie casseroles like green bean casserole and swiss vegetable medley. The problem for this celiac is both recipes call for two things that must be avoided. I have found some gluten free cream soups but I don't know how to replace the french fried onions. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to go through another Thanksgiving mourning a forbidden side dish.

Are there some gluten free flours?? Is rice flour one? If you can find one
you could dredge some verry thinly slice onions in the flour and fry in oil.
you might have to coat in egg and milk first. I saw the guy do it on food network
and it looked amazing.:)

Soxmom- I thought about sauteeing some sliced onion and GF bread crumbs in butter and using that. Was curious what others would do. Thanks for your idea.

In a pinch you can use Rice Chex cereal. Put about a 1/2 cup in a freezer baggie and smash/smush with a rolling pin or other heavy utensil till flour-like consistency is reached. It's similar to japanese tempora.

Remember to add seasoning, rice products are often flavorless.

Thanks for the tip Pinky. I always have Rice Chex on hand.
