AutoAmbulator

I do not recall ever seeing this discussed here. Apparently this device was originally developed to assist with spinal cord injuries but they are finding much better success with PD & MS patients. Two of the advanced Parkie's in our therapy group are now starting treatment and seeing positive results! Both of these men were confirned with walkers but are now making slow but sure progress in walking unassisted. It will be interesting to see the outcome. I just wondered if any of you were aware of this????

I've heard of it...

...but why is it not used more commonly?

Do you work with Parkinson's sufferers?

I believe it is a fairly new device. We only became aware of it a couple of months ago. The families had to find where the machines were locally and get a RX from their MD to start the therapy. One of these men had a daughter in another state and she saw it on TV. She then got a copy of the TV blurb and sent it to us.

I am on the board of directors for a local Parkinson's group but we have nothing to do with this machine. I was just curious if others had heard about it. If you google it, you will find a lot of info but apparently it is only available at this point through "HealthSouth" here in the states.

It will be interesting to see the impact on these two men after a couple of months.
