Ataxia
HI,
I am hoping that this is the right forum to ask about this. My story briefly is that my mom has hydrocephalus, and her shunt was adjusted last year which resulted in a major bleed to her brain, she recovered slowly and was walking with assitancce and a walker, and then got an infection and then her walking was all over the place, leaning backwards, forwards and to the left. It has improved some but somedays is really bad and others just ok. Her neurologist at the time said she had ataxia, but it was probably from a bladder infection or something, well it wsn't, and it isn't from the shunt either. So, I am thinking of taking her to a Dr. that specializes in ataxia, and see if he can help. At one time she was on amatadine, but isn't anymore, could this help? Any help is appreciated. Smitty |

I would suggest looking for a neuro who specializes in movement disorders, including ataxia and dystonia. My daughter has dystonia and what you are describing sounds similiar. Dystonia can be triggered by lots of things. (((hugs))) |
